http://www.rotoinfo.com/playerupdate/207876/shane-vereen-rb/ Ridley was a massive disappointment last night. Vereen is their best pass-catcher out of the back-field as well.
Interior pressure on Brady shoot LB's and DB's up the middle while Richardson and Wilkerson contain the edges and the Corners play press man all night then in the 2nd half use the playoff game scheme to shake him up On offense establish the run by any means then allow Geno to work off the play action
this is huge news - ridley was garbage yesterday, vereen was their best play maker on the field aside from brady....making them one dimensional already
So Vereen is out and Amendola might be out as well (not sure if there is any specific update on that) plus one of their TEs? If that's the case this might actually be do-able.
Vereen out, Gronk out, Amendola slowed (groin), Hernandez jailed. They're weak right now, time to strike.
This would align almost perfectly for the Jets to upset the Pats if the game wasn't 79 hours away. The Thursday night factor sucks
This is one of the strangest Jets-Pats matchups I have seen in the past decade or more. The Jets have a beast of a defensive line, fast linebackers and nothing reportable concerning a running game, the Pats have running potential, very thin talent at WR, and an Oline that can't handle a blitz. I don't know what to expect. But I won't be surprised if the Jets lose by 20. Because... the past 13 years.
Gah, I've heard about the (potential) demise of the Patsies too many times over the past four or five seasons. I'm feeling confident, which can only be a bad thing.
we need to go man press coverage all game, and just hope we can get to the QB. take our lumps but thats the only way we are going to beat them. way too much is being made over this egg they laid vs the bills. last year they lost early to the cardinals, looked awful, then went on to steamroll the bills dropping 52 points. they looked terrible and lost to seatle on that last second heavy by russell wilson, losing 3 of 4 games, then went on to rip off 7 wins ina row, including embarassing the texans. lets not get too crazy over an ugly win vs. the bills for them. they still have a great team. they can still run, and they still have brady. and they are home. we need tons of breaks and everything to go right.
Remember that time we played the Pats after Brady blew out his knee and had to face Matt Cassel who hadn't started a game since high school?
The Patriots turned to Shane Vereen at tailback Sunday after Stevan Ridley had trouble holding onto the ball, but they didn’t lose much of anything in terms of production. Vereen ran for 101 yards, making him the only running back to cross the century mark thus far in Week One, and caught seven passes for 58 yards as well, but it looks like the Patriots are going to have to wait a few weeks for an encore. Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that Vereen broke a small bone in his wrist on his first play of the game on Sunday and that he’s scheduled for surgery on Monday that will keep him out for a few weeks. Per Glazer, Vereen was able to play the entire game but concern grew afterwards because he experienced numbness in his wrist after the game because of the way the bone was sitting on the nerve. With Vereen out, Ridley’s stay in the doghouse may come to an end. The Patriots have Brandon Bolden, LeGarrette Blount and Leon Washington on the roster as well, but none of them offer the same package of skills that Ridley brings to the team. Those skills don’t matter if he can’t hold onto the ball, of course, but a reprieve could be in the offing with the loss of his replacement.
losing a security blanket like that and someone that forces the defense to stay honest and respect the run is big deal. Their schedule isn't exactly a cake walk either - Jets, Tampa, Atlanta, Cinci, Saint, Jets again...they could lose 4 of those games.
