I'm a homer but even I don't think we have much of a chance to win at Carolina (the game that me and a buddy have decided to make our annual road trip BTW). I'd rate the probs of a win vs Oakland and Cleveland way higher than 50 percent and at Miami at just under 50 percent. 8-8 is fine in this rebuilding season in which ALL the experts and SOJFS predicted no more than a 3-13 season and in which the experts at ESP-NE ranked the Jets as the 32nd best team in the NFL prior to the season 40-50 million in cap space this offseason and 11-12 draft picks.... As our GM, John Idzik is getting it done the right way for the first time in decades
I tend to agree, I predicted a 6 or 7 win season (at best) this year and we should finish right around 7 or even 8 wins. It's not a good spot to finish in but maybe with some more selective drafting (I.e. somewhat for need, not just BPA) and some moves in free agency we might improve a bit next year. Until we see greatly improved QB play I can't see us making the playoffs, though.
Mitch, go and enjoy the atmosphere. BofA stadium is a great place to see a game. The place should be pretty crazy - regardless of this week against the Saints, the Panthers would still have a legit shot at the Division title and 2 seed. I live in NC and will be at the game.
I was in attendance. FWIW, glad I saw a win live and not a loss. Real bad look that we didn't find the endzone on that Reed int though.
Thawed out enough to post. A good win for the Jets albeit against a really crap team. Offense was improved with Ivory running strong and Geno playing a pretty clean game and moving the chains effectively. Special Teams were excellent with Antonio Allen scoring on the punt he blocked Defense was the weak link giving up big chunk plays. The Sons were invisible mostly and Cro especially dragging down the secondary getting beaten consistently and committing a horrible PI foul. Frankly, Dee Milliner was the best CB by far. Safeties and Backers looked OK. Anyhow This team which was ranked last by ESP NE before the season and predicted to win no more than 3 games this season by all the experts has now won 6 games and has a chance to win 8 for the season with a rook QB
This. This is a rebuilding year as everyone knows but the amount of draft picks is a total team changer.
You ALWAYS have a bad feeling lol. I bet you had that same feeling going on the road against the Pats or vs the Saints, right? Carolina isn't immortal. They struggled against Rob Ryan's D, they should in theory struggle against ours.
Going into yesterdays game I was unsure i wanted to watch. That sounds terrible but watching our inept offence play for the last three weeks has been excruciatingly painful. But the season is short and I love Football so glad i watched and we got a win. There were some positives from it but Geno still look way to inaccurate. Nealy all his passes are high, he never seems to hit the receivers in stride so they can do more with it. Even his lob into the endzone for the TD looked like it was going to be intercepted to me with the coverage that was around that pass. He might be making rookie mistakes but his basics seem way off. We get gashed on way too many big plays. That PI against Cro on 4th and 5 was just plain stupid. He just had to turn his head and it would have been a change of possesion. I really like the Way Ivory just keeps on going. He is perfect for this average line with his YAC. Im already looking forward to next season with the Draft we have and the amount of cap space to be players in Free agency. But its so damn far away.
