All of this is lame, really. It's bitching plain and simple. As a fan though, it's not nearly as bad to hear you bitch about it. But to have the leadership of that organization bitching about it. Holy hell. Not to mention - - the schedule came out in freaking April or something. Why not complain then if you think it's a problem. No - they'll wait until they are 3-7 before they say something. Sounds like excuses to me.
Buffalo Bills @buffalobills 1m #Bills WR Stevie Johnson is OUT and will not play Sunday against the Jets. Nice gift from the Bills.
It's sold out because the owner went out and purchased the remaining tickets... not because the fans are coming out in droves of support. A gift really. Twice this year.
Latest weather shows high temps and winds, gusts into the 40s . Good for running the ball down the Bills throat getting ahead, stuffing their running game and forcing EJ ManBUST to try and beat the Jets with his arm
Only around a few thousand tickets. 71,000 were sold before the push. People are still paying for at least some (or all?) of the remaining tickets, but at a big discount. The proceeds will go the Wounded Warrior Project, which ain't bad. Watch the game. The fans will be out their in force. Bills fans have proven to be as die-hard as they come. This is a team that won't make the playoffs for 14 consecutive years. It's a small market, and the stands will be packed even though they are 3-7. What happened is exactly what I predicted would happen earlier in the thread.
The Bills fans that are there, the die-hards, will be rowdy - I won't deny that. Not that I really care, but you "predicted" that they would get the extension and sell out - which is not what happened. They got the extension and "sold-out" by default because the owner chipped in. Not exactly a true sell out. There's always a solid amount of Jets fans at the Ralph for these games too. It can be a zoo.
Thanks for checking up on me, but I said that there would be an extension and then "somebody is bound to buy the rest of them." Somebody is singular. I meant Ralph Wilson or some other company. Not many tickets were left, relatively. The stands will be packed.
Stevie is the only reason I dont like the Bills. I wish he was in and Cro shut him down but a win will be sweet all the same. I hope to see us run all over them again.
Of course they are bitching, but that's not to say that what they are bitching about is not unfair. So call it standing up for what they feel is right, which would be more accurate. Like I've said earlier, this is not an anomaly. It happened inordinately to the Bills last year, and plagued their match-up with their biggest division rival four years straight. The Bills are trying to inspire change. Are you against a more evenly distributed schedule for all teams? That's all that this is about. Somebody had to say something, and what the fans say doesn't matter so much. ...and if the Bills said something in April, would you really think they were bitching or making excuses any less?
what a stretch. You had me at "trying to inspire change." too funny. I'm guessing they can "inspire change" all they want, but next november they'll bitch about something else when they are out of the playoff race again.
Bills are right to complain about schedule imbalance. That's too many games having rest disadvantage.
One of my best friend's is a die-hard Bills fan. He pointed their schedule issues out to me. I hate the Bills, but their schedule this year, as far as playing teams on extended rest, is bullshit and entirely unfair. As Jets fans, we'd be losing our shit if it was our schedule. Not sure how the league let that happen.
Agreed & Bills did the right thing by bringing it up. Many non-Bills fans were unaware of the situation until all these articles were written on why they approached the league. I don't expect things to balance perfectly but this is way too one-sided. If this exact thing happened to the Jets, there would be countless threads here on this same topic.
we'd think it was the league deliberately trying to screw us and keep the circus narrative going likely. This should certainly be looked at.
Good question. We won't know until Sunday. Rain never really helps anyone. Although, it might play in our favor. With rain, teams run the ball a lot more. Our run defense is ranked 1st in the league. Other than that, only time will tell. The only test Geno had in rain was in New England, but I think we all can agree he has matured more since then. I guess we'll find out
Guess one of the few teams that doesn't face anybody that's coming off extra rest... That's right, the Patriots. For anyone interested, it breaks down like this after Buffalo: Teams that play against 4 teams with extra rest Atlanta Teams that play against 3 teams with extra rest Arizona, Carolina, NY Giants, Oakland, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay Teams that play against 2 teams with extra rest Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Houston, NY Jets, San Diego Teams that play one team with extra rest Baltimore, Cincinnati, Dallas, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Miami, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tennessee, Washington Teams that play no teams with extra rest Kansas City, New England and technically New Orleans (New Orleans plays Seattle off their bye week, but the Saints are coming off a Thursday night game that same week giving Seattle only three more days to prepare than New Orleans instead of a week) Teams whose bye weeks were nullified or compromised Buffalo, Houston, Indianapolis, Seattle – Houston and Indy have same bye week then play the following week. Buffalo’s bye compromised by Atlanta getting 10-day break same week due to Thursday night game. Same with Seattle prior to their aforementioned meeting with New Orleans. Seems to me like the league could do better than this. I mean, half the league faces either no team coming off extra rest or one team coming off extra rest.
