All I want to see is Smith play half way decent. Play good enough to keep them in the game and not bad enough to lose the game. If he implodes week 1 it will really destroy the entire team. He needs to go out there with confidence and lead the offense. He doesn't have to be perfect but make key plays the way Sanchez did his first start against a heavily favored Texans team. 18/31 272yards 58.1% 1TD/1INT 84.3 rating (Sanchez first start on the road - no one picked them to win this game)
You make it seem like the jets dont practice every day vs a similar talent level defense. Revis and Cro are similar. We have Wilkerson, richardson, Coples and Ellis on the DL which Geno practices against everyday. Plus, I would give hyge advantage to Rex Ryan coaching the D to the Jets.
Freaking cant wait for this game. We are all 0-0, everyone is starting off with the same record, lets get to 1-0!
My prediction for week 1 Buc's win 21 to 15. Martin has 2 TD's and 100+ yards rushing, a special teams TD and the bucks will have 150 yards in the air. Jets running game fails to break 60 yards total rushing and around 200 yards in the air..
Looking at last year you can see how stats are really about what the team was. Jets #2 passing defense/ Bucs top rushing defense Stats tell you why: Jets: 495 rushing attempts /4.3 yards per carry /133 yards per game (31 attempts a game) 266/494 passing 200 yards per game (31 attempts per game) Bucs: 377 rushing attempts 3.5 yards per carry 82.5 yards per game (23 attempts per game) 410/627 passing 309 yards per game (39 attempts per game) So were they each that great in passing/rushing D or just so bad in the other phase teams didn't have to be balanced? Did they get in situations where one option was just a smarter move? Once teams see a weakness the abuse it til you can stop it.
I can't believe people are still answering the Buccs fan. Hes either trolling or flat out stupid and neither warrants a response.
There's a Tampa Bay Jets Fan club that is pretty big. You might want to search some of the posts form the last Jets vs TB game posts from when we were in Tampa in 2009. They meet up as a specific bar every week to watch Jets games. Too bad we haven't seen the likes of TampaBayJetFan in a while.
So when Freeman sucks its all or his fault. But when Sanchez shits the bed, its not his fault. Gotcha....!!!!
thinking of going to the game, what is the best time (cheapest) to buy on stubhub if one wants to go to the game?
Read the guy's post that I was responding to. Then ask yourself why are you so sensitive... Did I hit a sore spot?
(I've been looking over the last two pages, some attitudes have turned into anger)... What's the matter JETS???? Not feeling as confident in beating the Bucs as you were two weeks ago??? #missionaccomplished
That's the golden question to figure out here really, but it honestly shouldn't matter much. Both teams have vastly different defenses, so it's hard to go off 2012 stats. Now that ^ being said... Our weak spot is where they have DOUG MARTIN. Their weak spot, is where we have a rookie QB starting his 1st game. Now I have faith just like the rest of you guys, but I'm not overly optimistic these first 2 weeks of the season this year. I really think 0-2 is almost inevitable. I'd love to be wrong though.
Are ya'll ready??? 2012 Top yards from scrimmage in the NFL: 1) RB- Adrian Peterson (Vikings) 2) WR- Calvin Johnson (Lions) 3) RB- Doug Martin (Bucs) Why are some of you guys predicting a win for the Jets???
Revis isn't the only addition. Dashon Goldson was added and those two should improve what was a bad secondary.
Not sure why you feel so confident. I do think the Bucs win but this game will be one Freeman mistake from a loss. Your defense is much improved but your QB is garbage. Flip a coin Smith or Freeman. The Jets don't match up well against Martin but I give Rex credit for being one of the best in game planning. Going to be a close game.
