Strickland getting headhunted by the Pats was actually a crippling loss. Many teams had been utilizing bubble screens on offense that year and he was absolutely deadly on those plays.

He was blowing Welker up on those screens in the second game against NE '09 and Belichick sent an O-lineman to kill him far away from the play because of it.

He was a decent nickel corner, too. After he went out, Drew Coleman became the favorite player of opposing passers.

The competition at this point should be kinda of close because it is really about throwing the ball and Geno can chuck it around. It is not about chucking it around it is about the ability to read defenses while digesting the playbook. They don't have half the plays in yet then we will see if Geno is ready. That is the point is Geno ready.

    Rookies Starting

RG3- He had a 1600 yd back (Do the jets have that?)

RW- He had a 1600 yd back (Do the Jets have that?)

Luck- He was the best prospect to come out since Manning

Tannehill- He already knows the offense and still looked like a rookie

Then again I wouldn't want him wearing a cap that makes him swear since guys would just say

He threw that INT because he was sweating too much because of the cap and it got in his eyes

P.S. I don't care about the headband it is gay though

It absolutely hurt us but should losing a decent role player have hurt a big time D? we weren't a big time D which is the point. I liked Strickland, I felt our secondary in 2009 was better than 2010 and he was one of the reasons why but we shouldn't have fallen apart w/ his loss.

If the media really tried to report how the lines were performing, they would betray their overall ignorance of how the game of football is played. That's why they constantly spotlight the human drama of the game and minimize the technical details.

Right now, looking at message boards, they know all of the human drama involves the QB position. Look at that ridiculous Sanchez thread for proof.

    Question for the group:

Based on everything you've seen from Mark over the last 4 years, and everything you've seen from Geno over the last 4 weeks, who do you see as the Jets' QB 3 years from now?

If the answer is "Geno Smith", then what's the point of even starting Mark (assuming Geno has progressed enough to hold his own from day 1)? Of course Geno will have his rookie fuck ups and will only get better as time marches on, but if Geno can at least make a game of it from day 1, and if he's the future, then what's the point of even playing Mark?

If they feel Geno is ready to start he will start pretty much regardless of how well Mark looks.

Losing a decent slot corner and replacing him with the Wayne Hunter of defensive backs definitely hurts you in the AFCC when you are playing against Peyton Manning.

It gives a giant playoff choker the type of security blanket he needs to beat your team and advance to a Super Bowl loss.

Losing Strick wasn't the only reason the defense let us down, but it was a big one for me.

Big fucking deal. He ate a hot dog on the sidelines. Troy Aikman once did the same thing. Get over it already

I'm not sure how true that is. If Sanchez looks in preseason like he did in game 1 2012, the Jets would be foolish to start Geno.

But if Geno looks as good as R. Wilson did last season (slim chance), and Mark doesn't look better, Mark is done for the Jets.

Hey, if sanchez wears a skirt is that gay? The fucking guy is wearing girls gear. That IS gay!

This country is becoming soft. Everyone is offended by everything. People need to get the fuck over it and stop being offended by everything.

There is nothing "hurtful and intolerable" about calling something that is gay, gay!

Has Geno thrown to Braylon yet?

So far it's only been Nacho-brain doing that. I'd really like to hear news of Geno actually working with Braylon since I believe Geno will end up being the Starting QB when all is said and done.

I think they want Geno to win and if it is close he will. I hope both have great preseasons and make it a difficult choice.

The past 4 weeks has been practice. Let's see how Geno plays against another team.

Trying to answer this question is as pointless as trying to figure out power rankings in February.

  19. New England 26 carries 128 yds YPC 4.9

    Miami 30 carries 151 yds 5 ypc

    Buffalo 41 carries 250 yds 6.1 ypc

    Minnesota 30 carries 151 yds 5 ypc

    Cincy 21 carries 125 yds 5.9 ypc

    Detroit 25/101 4.0 ypc(OT)

    Chicago 25/98 3.9 (2 tds)

    Buffalo 37/218 5.5 ypc

Those are some impressive performances. Yes they include some long runs by Brad Smith but does the O-line not get credit for blocking on game breaking plays or anything Brad smith accomplished?

If Geno is close to Sanchez by the end of preseason week 2, Sanchez has no business being the starter.
