Who wouldn't settle for a playoff berth when the majority of the country thinks we will win 4 games tops? In all honestly I don't care who plays QB as long as they deserve the right to start.
i don't care either, but i don't want to settle for a qb we can win with. i want one that can win games for us.
Brian Bassett Chris Ivory says hamstring is ’100 percent,’ may not play http://t.co/n5f7Rfx87Q #Jets #NFL well, at least he's out there during practice...do whatever it takes for him to out there in september ready to go be that guy on the highlight reels.
It's not being a hater It's understanding that nothing has changed with him and were tired of settling for mediocrity or even less than that from him He just doesn't have it and what little he did have he lost
Chris Ivory said it. Not the trainers or anyone on the medical staff or coaching staff. He probably feels 100%. Players lie about their health all the time to get back on the field. I feel better that he won't be playing. Hamstrings are a shitty injury to have during a football season. Especially when they happen before it starts.
agreed.. What the Sanchez apologists refuse to recognize is that he should be doing VERY well in camp, he knows the plays... or should know them.. he knows the personnel on D he's going against and their strengths / weaknesses which is huge when you know where the pressure is coming from on a given play, he knows there is no pressure on 7 on 7's etc. Despite this he's still not "terrific" in camp, he's in a dog fight with a rookie. The combination of very poor judgement, happy feet, coughing up the ball when any Defensive rusher is close enough to touch him, poor accuracy in every facet of throwing (be it short, intermediate, long, touch pass, screen, crossing, fade etc.), poor mechanics (remember year 1 when every throw was flatfoot.. they did that for a reason, when he stepped into throws the ball sailed over, behind, in front of receivers), coupled with declining personnel and poor OC's led to his quick demise. A strong run game and strong D propelled this team deep in the playoffs, not him. Even when they had Plax and Edwards the best play Sanchez was good at was the "jump ball" it wasn't accuracy. Edwards and Plax athleticism saved his bacon way more than Sanchez helped win them games when people say he played well. Go look at the tape of the plays these 2 made. If you had a choice now would you rather have Sanchez or David Carr? They're mirror images of each other although Carr had a better completion % with a much worse team. Carr can't get a sniff as a potential starting QB. Why do people insist that Sanchez can start? 6 of his 26 TD's in '11 were rushing TD's so he had 20 passing TD's vs 18 INT's in his 3rd full year. That's a horrible ratio. As bad as Carr was, his completion percentage as a starter steadily improved (as it should for any true QB) and capped out at 68% his last year with the Texans. Sanchez will never come close to 68%.
Seriously, some people need to learn the difference between being a Sanchez hater, and a critic. Just because people are no longer buying into the "Sanchez is having a great offseason and is improving so well" crap after 4 years of it, doesn't mean they're a hater. If Sanchez outplays Geno and earns that starting spot, good for him, hopefully he goes out there, plays well, and savages his career, but people want to see more than just words claiming Sanchez is improving, they want to see it on the field. Doesn't make them haters, a hater is the type of person who would say "Geno should start just because he isn't Sanchez." Now that quote is dumb, but that is not what some of the people you're claiming to be haters are saying, they're just being skeptical of what the coaches are feeding them, and rightfully so.
I'm with you 100% on that, it would be nice to finally get that 10 yr QB that can win us games. Until that happens, we might have to settle for the whole "team effort" thing. It's the only way we'll get back in the playoffs - at least this season anyway.
As a long time jet fan it seems whenever we are expected to "go all the way". We wind up stinking and vice versa. So who really knows what will happen. Maybe cause it is pre season that it is better for sanchez to get to see what he needs to do and fix his mistakes like just throw the ball in the dirt instead of forcing. If he starts throwing bad picks game 1 that should have been thrown away. He will be finished in NY for good. As much as I lost all confidence as our leader to break our 40+ year old curse. He is our best option right now and still is a jet. I just hope he gets his chance without garbage from our fellow jet fans. I still am a huge geno fan but we all know he is not ready and no rookie is gonna win a ring for us. I will root for #6 only cause he is our best/only option this season.
Forgot to add.. His second best pass was the "bounce pass" you know the Sanchez special of bouncing the pass at the receivers feet whether they are 5 yds away, 10, 15 etc. I'll bet he led the league in passes that touched the ground or feet of receivers within 15 yds of the line of scrimmage every year since he's been in the league. Why can't they keep fun stats like that ; )
I thought what we did see of him was decent completed passes no INTs, some bad play calls and penalty really stalled the game for him, but some of that may have very well been on him
I hope we have two heck three quarterbacks that look and play great. It would maximize our chances of dealing one or two for additional picks or players. If Sanchez starts and does well how is that bad? If Geno progresses and is ready trade Sanchez for something rather than outright cutting him before next years draft. I would love for him to become Alex Smith II
