Look, we've got the QB, we've got the offensive playmakers, we've got a set offense, we've got a coherent offensive line with no issues.

Looks to me like Super Bowl.

But realisticjetsfan says we can restructure contracts because all 32 teams do that every year. C'mon Br4d.......he is a guru. Listen to him.

Stop being a clown and putting words in my mouth. There are multiple teams competing for a title and have a legitimate chance. Almost all of the teams in the playoffs currently, maybe aside from the Ravens and maybe Texans, look to have bright futures. These teams have a young core and very good offenses. They never mortgaged the future with high priced aging vets, trade ups in the drafts and limited cap room.

You are just making yourself look like a fool by putting words in my mouth like "Oh I forgot you want us to trade for Rodgers Brees Brady or Peyton so we can meet your definition of competing".

If you havent realized, in order to be a legit contender year in and year out, you need a franchise QB. Matt Moore does not qualify her... This team needs to add pieces to this offense and hopefully next year we are in position to take Teddy Bridgewater and fight for the division after that. Please give me your "realistic" plan for sustained success? Matt Moore is the first step towards competing eh? Nice to know.

Some of you homers are pretty funny ya know.

I have no problem signing Matt Moore in order to just hold down the fort so we can actually field a QB, but to say that he is going to get us on a competitive level is a different, false, story.

You guys think Matt Moore is going to come cheep? He wants to be a starting QB and there will be several teams bidding for his services.

My bet he winds up in Tampa.

Four things occur to me when I read your posts.

    1) They suck.

    2) You are clueless.

    3) You are one of the founding members of a failed upstart football site.

    4) This is not your first TGG account.

Probably 2 years..after next year we can dump cromartie, holmes, sanchez and harris and save another 33 million..at that point we should be able to go out and sign some "real" nfl players unlike the mess we have this year.

That's not what I said..this year we will have maybe 12 million to sign 25 players..do the math..you aren't going to get much in the way of NFL talent that way..if we free up another 33 million after 2013 and start out at the cap instead of 20 million over we will have money to spend on players that are something more than walkons, rookies or bums.

team needs to pick up a qb to start or real competition with sanchez, te, and resign braylon and the offnse isnt so bad. remember tone is going to be back next season, tone, braylon, kerley, hill... i like that group going into the season. if the qb situation can be rectified the team is not doomed at all. i like how everyone thinks the team is done though.

it seems to me that rex is really good at developing d-lineman, and dunbar only makes the situation better for the young guys on our team. hell even devito started getting a pass rush going. wilkerson is only getting better, and coples has come on strong late in the season much like mo did last year. if coples can have a similar path as wilk and play well next season, our d-line will dominate.

new linebackers coach and some youth at the position could be a very good thing. our linebackers looked slow as shit out there a lot of the time and teams really exploited that. if bart is willing to restructure and come back for cheap than i think the jets should keep him on the roster, but give the reigns to the younger guys.

defense will always be good as long as rex is here. its just a matter of will it be elite or not.

if the offense can be at least average, and the defense stays strong, team can make the playoffs and i have faith rex can make another deep run.

thats what you said. i agree with sanchez for sure. harris and holmes i will wait and see how they play. cutting players for cap space is only good when you have their replacements already so not sure if holmes and harris should be on that list yet

1-2 years just to weed out the garbage on this roster in terms of inflated contracts and over the hill players. At the same time, completely focusing on an offensive upgrade to this football team. From the gameplan and playcalling, to the type of offense to drafting and free agency, the entire offense needs to be repaired.

-Need a big time OC. Not some dink and dunk vanilla OC but an innovative high octane guy who wants to open this offense up. Take the training wheels off the QB and let it rip (even if it is Moore/McElroy, etc) It's only a short term fill-in until we draft new QB.

-2014 will be the year to draft a QB however in leading up to that the FO should give that QB pieces to work with starting this offseason. Those pieces should include a new RB, WR, O Lineman via the draft and FA this offseason.

-Need to address the LB corps as well. Need much more speed, LB's got beat constantly this year.

Do all these things stated above and the team could start competing again in 2014 and beyond.

Jets are in a minor rebuild until they get their QB and a supporting cast on offense. I'd say 1-2 years.

That said they theoretically could still be competitive if they get "competent" play out of their hold the fort guys. I wouldn't count on it though.

The Jets have not cratered yet. That will happen next season.

Think about it. With Ryan being retained, but the rest of the CS leaving the Jets have no coaching staff. Everyone in the NFL knows that Ryan will be fired if he has another 5-6 win season. The Jets are in cap hell.

No coaches worth anything are going to come here knowing it could be a one and done situation if Ryan is fired. So the Jets are not getting top notch assistants to replace those that left.

The roster and the cap are a mess and can't be fixed in one offseason. There is no QB to be had in the draft and all that is available in free agency is someone else's garbage. The Revis contract situation is only going to add to the problems.

The team will be worse next year, not better and Ryan will be fired and then the rebuild starts.

    oooorrrr

say the jets do well next season and make the playoffs. the oc that came in gets a ton of credit and the cs keep their jobs. oc even possibly gets hc look if he winds up fixing sanchez

    looks pretty enticing to me.

By the way, the best teams can rebuild and compete at the same time.

You know....I have an observation. How is it that the years the Jets decide to pack things in and blow shit up there are literally no legit options in the draft at QB? There are QB's after the year and before but nothing in the same year. If we draft a QB this year I'm going to flip a gasket. Give me a 1 or 2 yr. vet until someone good comes out.

I want to see this happen...Alex Smith with Norvell at the OC position. End o' Story...Sanchez can ride the pine and enjoy his $8mill gift. MAYBE Norvell can get something out of him but we'll see.
