Ray Shero: "Sid suffered a broken jaw. Contrary to recent rumors there is no sign of any concussion symptoms or concussion at this time. We will continue to monitor things as we go forward but at this time we are dealing with a broken jaw."

The Blackhawks haven't been the best team in the league since their streak. despite that monumental streak, they are only 1 point up on Pittsburgh for the best record and 2 points up on Anaheim in the West, and in the last couple of weeks have lost three times to the two teams I have felt could beat them come the playoffs -- Anaheim and the Kings.

when they were on that streak, it reminded me of the Oakland A's when they won 24 in a row. everyone paid attention to it and didn't notice the Angels had won like 20 out of 22 during that streak, and when the A's finally lost the Angels were only 2 1/2 games behind them. Angels ended up winning the World Series.

.......who themselves had to go on a ludicrous run of wins in order to get anywhere near Chicago's tally, and who now are missing their best player for an indefinite period, and who are still the same old Pittsburgh who wilt when up against a team willing to punch them in the face.

Boston are the best team in the East, still.

Hall and Eberle are fucking studs. I love watching that line play right now. Also, I'm very smug because people laughed at me taking Taylor Hall in the second round of my fantasy hockey draft.

Looking like great value for you with that pick Johnny. With a tough sched remaining (ANAx3, CHIx2, MINx2, VANx2) I'm not expecting the Oil to sneak into the tournament, but there has been marked improvement and that's what I needed to see this year.

I gotta say the Senators are fuckin impressive, still playing quality puck despite losing such key pieces. And the Conacher trade was a steal imo, I can't believe Yzerman would trade that kid!

I dunno, I think the Bolts did all right from it. Bish is a really good goalie and a legit #1 on probably half the teams in the league; he made 45 saves in a 5-0 shutout tonight in his first game for them, so I'm guessing they're pretty happy with the trade right now as well.

I still think the Ducks are a house of cards. Their PDO is through the roof and their Fenwick is well below 50%. That's gonna catch up to them when all of their shots stop turning into freaking GOLD.

Somehow, I left Verizon Center last night, with the Caps in 1st Place. What a crazy short season. (And a what a terrible division)

With their giving Anders Lindback starter coin in the offseason I found the move curious. Conacher was primed to fill the production void left by Martin St. Louis when he retires. Obviously Yzerman is still gunning for the division this year and isn't looking to the future. Ballsy move by him, we'll see if it works out. I think Conacher will become a perennial 60/70 pt guy.

Linback hasn't convinced, though; they can sit around and hope he gets better, or bring in competition for him in the form of Bishop. Worst case, you have two #1 goalies; there's always a trade market for a goalie not named Luongo.

I think the thing with Conacher is that they have a few MSL wannabes in Tampa, and Tyler Johnson is seen as the long term answer there. There's nothing wrong with having a 5'9" forward, but you can't really carry five or six of them on your team and Tampa have a lot of small players. Ottawa on the other hand have a really big set of forwards; we only have three skaters on our roster who are under 6'0". I think this was a really good hockey trade that immediately improved both teams.

Is Holtby starting today? I have to choose between him, Bishop and Schneider for my fantasy team, I fancy any goalie to get the W against Florida but I'm concerned they're going to give him the night off with a game against Tampa tomorrow.

He played, got the W, but allowed 3 goals in the 3rd after Caps took a 4-0 lead.

Haven't posted in this thread for awhile but, yeah, was NOT expecting the Leafs to be in the position they are in right now. I guess they aren't officially in a spot but considering the teams below them still have games against each other they should end up sticking around where they are and likely play the Habs in the first round. But we'll see.

The same old Penguins who consistently are among the top seeds and who won the East back to back years.

They have the #1 seed just about sewn up despite Crosby, Letang, Martin, and Malkin missing time.
