And a losing streak out of them. Again, I'm a Leafs fan so...yeah...anticipating that losing streak to start any day now. With Reimer, Gunnar, Lupul, Brown and Gardiner all out I'd say about nowish sounds probable.
Erik Karlsson just had his calf/achilles area stepped on by a skate and left in a lot of pain after trying to push off the lacerated leg. Could be serious, and a huge loss. This guy has been probably the best D man in the league the past 365 days.
Some guys turning to kevlar socks to combat skate blade lacerations. Seems to me they should make the outer sock kevlar mandatory to protect all legs from lacerations, or to at least lessen their chances.
THE GREAT 8 has returned to form lately, including today's hat trick in a 5-1 win over the Devils. I am going to the game Tuesday with EliTheGiant. Should be a fun time seeing Semin back at Verizon Center. Funny thing, The Caps have 13 points and have looked terrible, yet trail the Canes by only 4 points for 1st place in the South East. Big game Tuesday.
Proposed new divisions: East 1: Boston, Buffalo, Detroit, Florida, Montreal, Ottawa, Tampa, Toronto East 2: Carolina, Columbus, New Jersey, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington West 1: Chicago, Colorado, Dallas, Minnesota, Nashville, St. Louis, Winnipeg West 2: Anaheim, Calgary, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Jose, Vancouver Thoughts? The first thing that springs to mind there is that it puts Seattle at the top of the list for the next expansion or relocation.
I think they're all tough divisions, with the patsies and the traditionally elite teams quite well spread out between them.
Yep, agreed. I like how it is set up. Swapping Winnipeg and Detroit makes sense, but I wonder what Red Wings fans think about it?
It's amazing how consistently bad the division has been. It's probably been the worst division in hockey the majority of the last ten seasons.
Not a fan of that realignment... Just make it 1 vs 16 for the playoffs...The wild card system doesnt work as well with NHL as it does with MLB/NFL
Realignment is garbage. I hate when they tamper!!!!!!!! Edit: it's moreso any changes to playoff format that I hate. If this leads to that, I don't like it.
Fun time at Verizon Center last night. Holtby with the 3-0 shutout over the Canes. Now 3 teams in the SouthEast have 19 points, Panthers have 16 and the Capitals have 15.
I had Holtby and Schneider available on my fantasy team last night, I was going to pick Schneider but I forgot to make the change and I accidentally ended up with Holtby playing. He then went on and bagged me 14.6 points in this ridiculous league I play in (5 for the win, 3 for the shut out, 6.6 for the 33 saves) as opposed to Schneider's 0.6 for the night (4.6 for making 23 saves, -4 for the four goals conceded). My fantasy hockey team is better when I pick players at random than when I think about it.
Wow Patty Kane ties it in Detroit 1-1 with 2 mins to go and forces OT. Streak continues for the Blackhawks. In other news: Colorado matches Calgary's offer sheet to Ryan O'Reilly. Flames left butthurt and continue to suck balls.
I feel like they put the Bruins in with the Rangers. That Boston-New York rivalry is always fun and we don't get it in hockey.
