On for Kennedy goal, did he lose his check? Only played 13 minutes, was a sparkplug when he was out there...
ManBearPig is a Sens killer. I'll be honest, I don't particularly remember the circumstances of the goal. It was right at the end of the second period which we had dominated, and I was too busy swearing at the TV.
Scoreless in Detroit until midway through the second period. Detroit just scored twice in under a minute I believe.
Classic bullshit officiating again tonight in Detroit. First Hjalmarsson smokes Franzen from behind into the boards, for some reason the hit wasn't called when clearly it should have been, the puck is sent the length of the ice to Kane who scores on the breakaway. Then 60 seconds later there's a melee around the Detroit net, the puck goes in, and the ref immediately waves it off for a goalie interference call that only he could see. Apparently, in the National Hockey League two wrongs really do make a right.
the goalie interference call was very strange I was wondering what I was missing because the announcers didn't challenge it. I didn't see how that was interference at all. That was a huge one, of course, because Chicago had just tied the game until the ref decided to change that. But maybe they just are under orders not to criticize the officiating because they let the Franzen one go as well, saying the ref saw it and felt Franzen wasn't defenseless.
The GI call was a make-up call for the obvious boarding penalty on Chicago that they missed in the build up to their goal. They will argue that Toews obstructed Howard by standing in his paint without having been pushed there by a Detroit player (contrary to popular belief, it isn't necessary to touch the goalie to be guilty of GI), to wit: However, it was a bullshit call that, like any other form of obstruction, doesn't get called in the playoffs. Pure make up call.
That hit was so hard it rocked Boychuk's whole family, funny watching Frankenstein laying on the ice saying please don't hit me Chris
that goalie interference was such a bad call...I think NBC Sports diverted any conversation on that. It was horrible. I didnt think the Franzen hit was aboarding call
Watch the highlight video on ESPN at 45 seconds in: http://espn.go.com/nhl/ Franzen is facing the boards for fully two seconds prior to the hit, so there's no suggestion that he turned away from the check and put himself into a vulnerable position at the point of the hit. He's playing the puck and clearly defenceless. The hit was entirely avoidable. Hjalmarsson may not have been travelling that fast, but he hits Franzen squarely in the numbers and drives him headfirst into the boards. There's really no decision for the zebras to make here, it doesn't get more boarding than that.
yeah that interference call was bs, and potentially a series changer. couldn't believe there was no discussion on the broadcast, felt like they were muzzled, can't be controversey on national tv. Definitley a make up call for the crowd reaction/ non penalty call on the play at the other end. Refs are really bad in general, I forget who on the Rangers got their stick slashed in half behind the net and the ref right in front of the play looking right at the incident didn't call it..........the ref at center ice did, it was ridiculous. I mean they got it right, but seriously how the ref on the play didn't call it was disturbing.
Quenneville knows too much about hockey to say something that stupid. I'll give you a clue, he's as bad a TV pundit as he was a goalie.
By the way watched a boatload of Chris Neil's fights on youtube, he really reminds me on Chris Knuckles Nilan, that's a big compliment by the way
