I don't think either of those teams are special tbh. The fact that The Blues and the Kings are playing each other in round one is ridiculous, they're identically terrifying with hot goalies, excellent puck possession and strong defense. Whoever walks away from that series alive ends up facing off with Chicago in the WCF.
I don't think it's just goaltending for the Pens, I think their blue line is suspect. Obviously Letang is a great player, but Martin looks shaky, Engelland and Despres have been shit, even Niskanen has looked poor at times, and Orpik plays like he's 84 years old.
I think the Bruins are the underrated team here. Their psyche is incredible, they never waver when trailing. Gritty win tonight at Toronto, Krejci with a hat trick. One more win please.
Yeah, not retaining Rob Scuderi and Gonchar post-championship has proved detrimental. They were key cogs. They are too front-loaded, almost having neglected the back end.
Ah. Well, we live in Canada. Randy Carlyle's choice of breakfast cereal is more interesting to the CBC than anything that any other team might be doing.
Blues/Kings going to OT, STL ties it with the tender pulled. This series has been an absolute WAR. Two really good teams trading blows here.
I agree, I think the three you mentioned are the strongest in the West. I think the Blues and Kings both would've advanced had they not faced each other (or Chicago, of course). If Anaheim can beat Detroit, they'll face the winner of Kings/Blues.
Underwent surgery today for a skull fracture, I imagine he's done for the rest of the Leafs' season. All one game of it. Wear a visor, kids.
