Interesting thing that could have been a gigantic disaster: Duncan was in the game illegally for the last 5 seconds of the 4th quarter (a player is not allowed to enter a game when there has been a replay stoppage). Imagine if he had gotten the rebound of Tony Parker's last shot and put it in to win the title for San Antonio? They would have had to replay those last 5.2 seconds the next day. Even if Parker's shot had gone in with Duncan having had nothing to do with the play Miami would have had a great case on an appeal.

To you, every counter point is irrelevant. You say he messed up in the clutch, I say he won the game. Both are legitimate points. I won't expand any more on my point because you will call it irrelevant. I like to discuss things thoroughly so I apologize that every single statement I made wasn't exactly about that one point. Next time I'll just stick with one liners.

Fun moment in NBA finals history:

Karl Malone vs Scottie Pippen, 1997 finals game 1.

The game was tied at 82 with very little time remaining. Malone drew the foul and got to the line with a chance to give the Jazz the lead. When Malone stepped to the line, Scottie Pippen snuck by and whispered something in his ear. Malone then subsequently bricked both free throws. The Bulls got the ball back and Jordan won the game on a buzzer beater on the next play. After the game everybody was asking Pippen what he said to Malone and he said, "The mailman does not deliver on Sunday". Karl Malone was known as the mailman and the game was played on Sunday, so it was just one of those perfectly timed things.

I'm not sure why, but this kinda popped back into my head the other day. I remember how crazy that series was, and who knows, if Pippen never said that, would Malone have bricked those 2 free throws? Would the Bulls have still won the series if they lost a game 1? The world will never know. They won the series 4-2. I just remember how glued to my TV I was when watching that. Very entertaining and watching MJ was just a pleasure. I was only about 17 at the time.

he did choke in the clutch at the end of the 4th quarter, but that wasn't the totality of my statement. my statement was had it not gone to OT and they won, his choking would have been the topic of conversation.

that is what is called a hypothetical situation.

the fact that he came through in the clutch in OT is irrelevant to the hypothetical I described, because in the hypothetical the game never goes to OT and he never has the opportunity to hit that shot. so, if you want to dispute my hypothetical, you have to dispute it within the parameters of the actual hypothetical. anything else is irrelevant to what I stated. that isn't dismissing the fact that he came through in OT, which is a completely different topic. if you are going to dispute what someone says, you have to stick to their actual argument.

That's because Miami bought themselves a championship team.

San Antonio is the definition of a true basketball legacy. Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, all selected in the NBA draft. Played with each other for years and won multiple championships. Popavich, one of the greatest coaches ever. A team that has won over and over again and does it with class and respect.

Miami is a show boat. Riley has admitted that he can not draft players and has to build his team through free agency. He goes out and buys the best basketball player in the league and supports him in what was an NBA "superstar" with Bosh. He wins a championship, like anyone should with those 3, and then goes out and buys the best 3 point shooter in the NBA, Ray Allen.

Meanwhile, you have Miami fans who have to be the worst sports fans in history. You have all these hispanic's who just got here and think they know basketball because they saw Lebron and Bosh join "their" team, so now they are die hard fans. They have never watched a second of basketball before that offseason and when the big 3 are broken up, they will not be watching it again. I have never seen fans that call you a pure hater simply because you are a fan of another team or don't like them. I hate the Lakers, am I a Laker hater also? If you don't like "their" Heat, you are a hater. It is a joke of a city and a disgrace to major league sports. I have lived there for 20+ years and have seen it all first hand. Watching them win pains me so bad just because they are such a pathetic fan base.

I'll tell you what, San Antonio fans would not have left that stadium in an NBA Finals with 10 sec left if they were losing. They would have stayed there to the end to watch possibly the last basketball game of the Spurs season. Fuckin pathetic franchise.

EDIT: What's even more pathetic is that when you talk to these Heat fans that have been true fans for 10+ years, they will tell you the same exact thing. They can't stand their own fanbase.

I'll be rooting on the Spurs tonight. I'd love for Deathstar to choke on his blowout words from the other night, and I know there are Spurs fans here, and come on...fuck Miami.

    Think about this:

Dolphins are the talk of the town with their free agency. There are even articles about them "dominating" next season. If the Heat win, think about the shit frenzy with these Heat/Dolphin fans. Holy hell! I think I will kill myself.

Miami did it within the rules, and SA had to spend to keep the players they draft and find. They traded for Kawhi too. The Celtics did a similar thing to the Heat to get their most recent title. The Lakers pulled off what looked like a very one sided trade at the time with the Grizzlies to get Pau. They also took Shaq from Orlando and Kobe from Charlotte I believe.

It happens, there are multiple ways to build a successful team. The Spurs way is great, but it requires great coaching, a great owner, and great GM/scouting department. Something many franchises don't have or won't be able to sustain for a long time. That means you need to use other methods, and buying players can fail miserably (see the Knicks of the mid 2000s). The Heat and Spurs built their teams different ways, both have been successful if the ultimate goal is a title.

WatchESPN should have the game, but that checks your cable provider I think.

You probably could have made your point without the racial comment.

Especially since San Antonio probably has about 5 times the hispanic population of Miami.

There's about 5 Hispanic people in Hawai‘i. Lol.

Anyway I think 'Bron will have another triple double en route to back to back Championships and Finals MVP. Just hoping for a great game!
