Mike is a douche, but he's right when he says this team has no direction. It's impossible to figure out what this team is doing or who's calling the shots, and if Izdik is calling the shots, he clearly doesn't have full autonomy. It simply didn't make sense to keep Ryan. And if the plan is to fire him after this season, drafting Geno Smith is just another head scratcher for a team desperate for talent.
The AFC has what 3-4 top flight teams and then the rest can essentially battle for the wildcards Patriots, Broncos, Ravens and Texans should own their divisions Bengals, Steelers, Chiefs, Dolphins, Colts and Jets will battle for the WC the next few years have some damn faith in your team
these answers are more encouraging than the Rex answer i saw at the post-draft presser the other day. I am encouragged. REx is learning his lines.
Rich realizes that he has nothing bad to write about, so as a writer he has to show something, even if it goes against his ego.
That's a statement that only a fool would make. Idzik is Ryan's boss and they have to work together regularly. But it makes sense coming from Francessa, a colossal fool.
Peyton and Brady are old. Ravens and Steelers are cycling into a rebuild mode. Texans seem like the new Chargers. Chargers are getting bad. You might be right. The thing that is amazing is that if I had to pick an AFC team to dominate the next few years right now it wouldn't be Luck and the Colts. It would be Dalton and the Bengals. And Mike Brown is not the kind of owner you'd expect to go on a tear.
Here's the thing. Rex Ryan is the most successful Jets coach since Weeb Ewbank. Now, that's not saying a hell of a lot since Jets coaches have left a lot to be desired but it's true nonetheless. That Francesa and the media haven't clued into that yet is kind of interesting. They take issue with Rex sticking with Sanchez and the results without acknowledging that it's pretty amazing to have won 38 games over the last 4 years with Sanchez as the starting QB and no good options behind him in relief. It's funny how things can hide in plain sight on you. Stephen A. Smith actually managed to berate Rex the other day for sticking with Mark Sanchez despite having no other viable options on the roster.
No way ... the media loved Herm Edwards. I believe it's because he's black, but for whatever reason, they defended him like he was the greatest coach in the league. Even when it was clear cut he sucked, they were still calling him the "best motivator". They were saying players were more loyal to him than any other coach in the league, while his best friend took less money to play in Denver than for the Jets. It was ridiculous.
the whole not benching mark earlier thing seems to be the basis of his supposed ineptitude. lets forget that Tebow didn't impress enough to earn the start or that G-mac clearly wasn't ready for big time, nope he's an idiot for not replacing one broken cog for another.
Extremely well put. It's just amazing that he has no interest in being a professional yet still gets ratings. In the end a guy like Francessa only exists because of the people who listen to him so those who have thier dial turned to him are the problem in the end.
His ratings are because of the time slot. If you put Boomer and Carton in that afternoon drive slot, I guarantee they'd get higher ratings than Fatcessa does.
This whole direction thing confuses me. I mean..what team that isnt succeeding at the time has real good direction..has a identity. I just listened to that fat slob on a playback and the real problem I have with him is that because he hates the team so much, he holds them to a standard that no other team is held to...NONE. I repeat..NONE. I mean..come on..what GM would come out and admit Sanchez would not be on the roster come August if theres a chance he might not...and more importantly....how the f can you expect a GM to say what he would do 2 months from now even if HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS GOING TO DO. I really cant believe he gets away with what he does with the Jets. I am not trying to defend the Jets and their mouths..especially Rex..but come on. This guy needs to be taken to task for what he asks the Jets to do to make him satisfied. Its actually turning into a disgrace the power of a media guy to spew his shit week in and week out about a team he truly hates. Were you and Rex on the same page on every pick? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Please tell me a GM that would say "no....Rex wanted this guy and I wanted that guy". I cant for the life of me understand why other media folk let this guy get away with this because in a nutshell..its taboo in journalism 101 to destroy a team everyday because they will not play your game. It seems like to me, there is a real code of ethics being turned upside down here. If a media guy wants to come out and say "I dont care what anyone thinks but the Miami Heat are the worst basketball team in the Nba" thats fine with me..stupid..but fine. What Mike is doing is a flat out lie. He is killing a team..and its GM for not doing what every other team does EVERYDAY...and thats not show your hand. Period. Sickening. Really sickening.
I was just wondering...have only done this a few times in my life..but how do you send a response or something like that to WFAN? Does anyone know?
If you have questions, comments or complaints about WFAN programming, you can e-mail pd@wfan.com or send a letter to: Mark Chernoff VP Programming WFAN Radio 345 Hudson Street New York, NY 10014
Good job..will do after Knicks tonight. Need a vent. Again, I have never ever seen a media guy act like this in my life. Have seen the hate..but this is a disgrace.
Jaywayne, the problem is that Francesa's job is to give his opinion; so, he can pretty much say whatever he wants. When he needs factual reporting, he brings on reporters (e.g. Sweeny Murti), analysts, etc. I can't stand him either. I'm just saying -- I don't think he's actually violating any code of ethics or anything like that.
