I love how he said all throught the GM hire that Rex is still running the show yet, now hes bitching for the jets trying to trade Revis.

Maybe fattty still thinks Rex is in charge? YEAh right.

I know it's the darksider in me, but I get the feeling if the Jets have their choice of the next big thing at the QB position (Clowney/Manziel/Other) they will choose wrong.

I think next year will be a lost season, so hopefully they get the chance in '14 and we finally wind up with a bigtime franchise QB. Would love to see them build the team the right way and end up with a franchise QB at the helm for once.

lol, yep that is his exact MO with the Jets.
And he'll blame Rex for not saying anything.....a guy he attacks for saying too much.

Flip it to the Giants...should Coughlin come out with a presser with exactly what the team is doing? Why did they cut Bradshaw and Canty, while probably letting Osi go? Coughlin doesn't need to because it is pretty damn obvious what they are doing. cap and age balance, just like every other team, including the Jets.
But for some reason this is a problem for him?

I think like most lazy media, he is angry the Jets are not making his job easy by giving them pressers to criticize.

As inept as the front office can be, I don't see them drafting Clowney to play QB. ;)

Well one thing i know for sure is we will never be a SB contender in today's NFL without a franchise QB, as great as Clowney seems.

He's not making any sense on this though. All a really bad year does is set you up to potentially have two in a row and two really bad years in a row is what gets GM's fired.

There's literally no way that John Idzik is sitting there thinking "1-15 is the way to go in this mess". What he's probably thinking is "get enough talent in here to go 6-10 and we might get lucky and go 9-7 or 10-6 and snag a wildcard instead."

U dont need an elite QB, you just need a QB that gets hot at the right time.

Look at last season, Brees, Big Ben, Eli, Peyton, Brady, Rodgers combimed for 2 playoff wins. Having a top Qb doesnt mean shit, its just a myth.

Other than Flacco, who may or may not be elite at this point, when was the last time a QB "just got hot" at the right time and won a Super Bowl?

Seriously, I think the answer might be Tom Brady in 2001 and before that never.

The 2000 Ravens didn't win the Super Bowl because Dilfer got hot they won the Super Bowl because they had the best defense in 15 years at that point. The 2002 Bucs won with a defense just a bit below the Ravens.

Since 2001 with the exception of the 02 Bucs every team that has won the SB has had a top 10 QB and now more than ever like its said so many times its a passing league.

I disagree, Brady wasnt top 10 in 2001, Ben wasnt top 10 in 2004, Eli wasnt top 10 in 2007, Flacco wasnt top 10 in 2012

5 of the last 10 didnt have top 10 Qbs in the season. I could even add Rodgers in 2010, he was shaky and got hot in january.

Imo you need a top 20 Qb to make the playoffs, and once when your in, anyone can get hot.

Not really, based on current trends you need a top 10 QB who needs to get hot.

Matt Schaub doesnt look like a SB winner

This is nonsensical though. Other than Eli in 2007 all of those QB's actually were top 10 in the ranking in the year you mentioned (although Roethlisberger was '05 not '04). Eli has won two Super Bowls now and is pretty clearly a top 10 QB if not at the elite tip of the scale.

Aaron Rodgers was in the top 10 all season in 2010. Not sure where you got the idea that he wasn't. His one really terrible game came in December against the Lions.

Flacco didnt either, he was bad in his early postseasons, he got hot.

I dont see what your getting at though? you act like having an elite QB promises success. Ask Broncos fans how they feel? or giants or steelers or Saints. All top Qbs, no playoff wins last season.

Again, I think this is not correct. Eli was a top 10 QB in 2011. He ranked 7th in QB Rating, 4th in Pass Attempted, 5th in YPA, 4th in Yards, 6th in TD's, etc. You cannot make the argument that Eli Manning was not a top 10 QB in 2011 and I'm not going around in circles with you if you get into 2-year old mode on this one.

Flacco is a more subjective case. He clearly was not an elite regular season QB this year and he's only had one top 10 season. That's why I said other than Flacco in the post you responded too.
