But that's what's funny ... he doesn't get along with Parcells anymore either. They had a falling out. So now he's holding a grudge, just because he feels like he needs to be fighting with someone. Rex makes an easy foil.
Not sure how well he would do in NYC. Dude likes to party pretty hard, and I can see him not fulfilling his potential once he has a shitload of money in his pocket. He has mad skills, but he scares me with his attitude. If it was between him and Clowney, I'd have to go Clowney. Kid is a madman....
I finally heard the interview. I think Idzik made Francesa sound foolish. He tried hard to nail Idzik in some way and he couldn't, and at the very end when Francesa got cute by warning Idzik about staying too close to Rex, because it "didn't work out too well for the last guy" Idzik sort of laughed at him for saying it. I am an admitted listener of Francesa's and yes, I do hate the way he treats the Jets. At one point I tried switching to Michael Kay, but his high-pitched whining about unimportant things was harder to take than Francesa's crap. Mike's last ditch comment warning Idzik about Rex was about as low as I've ever heard a WFAN host stoop. In fact, if any host other than Mike pulled that stunt, he or she would have to answer for it. What a crap move that was. That to me was worse than getting Revis to hang up on him. (An ironic twist to that was how leading up to the Revis trade, Revis became Mike's all-time favorite player - just to make the deal same more devastating to Jets fans) I think the issue isn't that Mike doesn't like the Jets, or that we're upset he's not a Jets fan. The issue is that this adversarial relationship he has with anything Jets related is at the expense of Jets fans who listen to the station. (Why would Idzik want to be back on Mike's show after that wisecrack?) We're being denied quality news and information about our team because of interviews like this one. It's not like a Howard Stern effect - where people listen because they like him and and people listen because they hate him (That's how Chernoff would view complaints, so if anyone does complain keep that in mind when framing your objections) it's about Francesa continuing this to the point where he comes off like an immature jerk as was the case yesterday with that last remark trying to advise Idzik about being close to the coach. Just imagine how that would sound or be taken had the remark been to Cashman about Girardi, or to Jerry Reese about Coughlin. It's a friggin' joke, and I hope Francesa's called out on it in the papers today.
Idzik must be one of the most boring people to have a conversation with. He gives out nothing, at all.
I believe the time has come for every Jet fan across the nation to stop listening to that arrogant, bias fool. No better way to to go about your day than to ignore the ring leader of the media circus. He can go gaga over the mighty Giants till someone in that organization pisses him off. I commend Idzik restrain. He impresses me more every passing day.
The more I think about it, that last, slight Idzik chuckle or reaction to Francesa's "warning" him about being simpatico with Rex really meant: "It took a few minutes Mike, but you really are the *sshole they all warned me about!"
That's exactly what it was. You know someone in the FO said "John, we don't send people on his show because all he does is act like a dick and try and pick fights." And Idzik responded with a "Well, maybe because I'm new, he'll try for a fresh start with the team." And that laugh was a "Yup, he's a dick."
Yes but he hated them before Parcells came. That is his natural state. He just became a hypocrite for three years.
classic... someone should do it again every once in awhile just to see if he picks up on it. fucking guy pays so little attention to what people are saying to him that it took him 10 seconds to realize he was a douche... da bills... da bills... da bills.... oh wait a second im a douche
Here the only writer who calls Tank as he is: By PHIL MUSHNICK http://m.nypost.com/p/sports/more_sports/how_dare_they_fZLGS2CKWt7RtK2toOOtoJ
I don't get the criticism though. One of the guys in that conversation came across as calm, rational, reasonable and basically realizing that the two of them were just talking about nothing effectively. He did it in a way designed to not slam any doors. The other guy wasn't as hostile as all this portrays but he was definitely angling for an edge. In the end he gave up and took a shot but it wasn't a shot at the other guy. In the process of doing all of this Mr. calm, cool and collected offered a bridge stanchion on the far shore to the angler and who knows what comes of that. I thought it was a very good job by Idzik and I thought Francesa was careful not to offend Idzik in the way he has occasionally done to Jets guests in the past.
I agree. Mushnick tends to use this sardonic overly negative style quite often. I posted that with main goal of letting everyone know that there actually is a writer who sees Tank for the piece of shit that he is. If you look through Mushnick archives, you will easily find something a lot more substantive, Francesa is one of his favorite targets and he writes about his bs every 2-3 weeks. There is plenty. Of material for criticism.
Speaking off WWE, im suprised no one ever calls him asking questions about it. "Hey mike, who do you think is going to win at Wrestlemania, Undertaker or Lesner". Better yet, someone should have called prior to the Super Bowl and should have said "Mike NY had Wrestlemania last year, im pretty if they can handle Wrestlemania they can handle the Super Bowl"....he woulda went nutz "wait a second, YOU think Wrestlemania is bigger than the Super Bowl?!?!?!? your a fool......"
