Murray did not participate due to a back injury. Biggest upset on the men's side thus far was Juan Monaco losing in the first round fresh off winning the Power Horse Cup
Monfils just knocked off Berdych, although I can't say I'm surprised. Monfils missed some time because of a leg injury so his ranking is a lot lower than it should be.
Nadal lost the first set, but won the tiebreaker in the 2nd set and cruised. Hewitt lost in 5 sets in the 1st round. The Monifis match was fun to watch.
Djokovic/Goffin being held up for a long time. 2.5 hour rain delay fouled by a very long women's match between Bartoli and Govortsova
Monifis serving up 5-3 in the 3rd and 40-0 and loses the game and his break advantage to Gulbis. Match is tied 1 set apiece with Gulbis now serving trying to hold
Monifis moves on. Federer cruising really easily. Got good luck having Nadal and Djokovic in the other half of the draw. Only has to face 1 on his path to the title, that is if he gets to the final. Tsonga could meet him or Ferrer I think
Monfils who was up 2 sets to 0 on Robredo and had a few match points is now going to a 5th set. He was also up 2 sets to love on Berdych in the 1st round before dropping 2 sets. Querry is also in the 5th set vs Simon
Kanepi lost to Voegele, probably can blame the delay for that kanepi led 6-5 in the first set, lost the tiebreak led 4-2 in the final set, then got broken 3 times and lost 8-6
That 19 year old Canadian WTA pro Eugenie Bouchard (who lost to Shriekapova today) is one nice piece of ass. Very cute face, great bod with a schweeet toliet.
Haas/Isner a classic Isner battle. 7-5 7-6 4-6 6-7 7-8 I doubt we'll have another Mahut final set but this could easily go 20 games
Federer sneaks away with a 5 set win over Simon. Dropped the 2nd and 3rd set but won the 4th and 5th relatively easily. Federer vs Tsonga in one quarter and Ferrer vs Robredo in another. Robredo has won 3 straight 5 set matches after being down 0-2 in sets.
Thirty five year old Tommy Haas, 2-time ATP Comeback Player of the Year is at it again. In the quarters after quickly getting by Mikhail Youzhny. Haas now faces Djoko. Would love to see the upset (as would Rafa). Youzhny's latest meltdown at Roland Garros yesterday:
Gasquet and Wawrinka in a 5 setter. Gasquet won the first two sets, Wawrinka the next two. Gasquet looked shot physically after 4 sets, got some treatment, looks more alive now
Wawrinka pulls through in 5 sets. Down 0-2, comes back to win the match 8-6 in the 5th. What a crazy match.
^^^ Yes, great match and a good effort by Gasquet who used to have a rep that questioned his grit in the clutch. Solid win by Stan the Man. Both guys, what backhands!
Prolonged argument between Jankovic and the chair about a mark. I still think it's silly that the French Open doesn't use Hawkeye, and thinks the officials can tell which mark is what and use it to make accurate rulings.
I wish I could hit a one handed backhand. They look awesome. Never was able to though and settled for the two hander I think the hawkeye for whatever reason doesn't pass the tests to the ATP standards so they don't use it on clay. For whatever reason the clay causes it to mess up enough it doesn't hit the standards they want
