Alex Cobb's third inning vs. San Diego yesterday:

    0 hits, 0 walks, 1 run, and 4 Ks

Will Venable reached on a wild pitch 3rd strike. He then stole second and third, and scored on a balk.

At LSU, Kevin Gausman used to eat a lot of doughnuts during his starts

He's making his MLB debut today, and some Orioles prankster did this:

6 total hits in Washington through 6 innings.

Strasburg and Hamels have combined for three of those hits.

Astros about to complete a four game sweep of the Angels.

Angels can't hit at all these days.

    Yasiel Puig is a monster.

    16/32 4 homers 10 RBI

this shouldn't be possible, especially not playing in Chavez Ravine.

Incompetent ump Clint Fagan also just blew an easy call at first, calling Hairston out on a "double play"

Alex Cobb hit in the head with a line drive.

They took him off on a stretcher.

ESPN morons unanimous last night during Reds/Giants. They all agree Puig doesn't deserve to make the All Star Game.

    Papelbon agrees. http://espn.go.com/mlb/allstar13/st...-papelbon-says-yasiel-puig-all-star-team-joke

They're all stupid, he has been clearly the best OF in the NL since he came up. A dominant month and a half (which is what it will be) should put him in ahead of guys who played more games but haven't put up close to the OPS.

And Puig is playing his home games in an extreme pitcher's park.

They are all right. He's got 101 at bats, way too small a sample size. If you don't qualify for the batting title you shouldn't be eligible for awards or All Star games. He's been great so far, but the game is filled with guys who had great starts and not been able to sustain it.

Something like 9 OFs wind up on the roster.

There are not 9 outfielders more worthy than Puig.

The fans want to see Puig, and deservedly so.

I disagree. Cuddyer, Carlos Gonzalez, Carlos Gomez, Beltran, Brown, Choo, Bruce, McCutchen, Pence, Parra, and Fowler are all having legitimate All Star level years and have done it all season long.

Parra and Pence? Will compare their stats after tonight against Puig's

Cuddyer has been great, no doubt. But he's missed a number of games due to injury. Hardly all season long. Plus there's no comparison between playing home games at Coors and playing home games at Dodger Stadium. Fowler has also missed some games.

Would agree with including the entire Colorado outfield and Puig still belongs.

The point is you can't compare them. Numbers through 100 at bats are meaningless. Obviously Puig's numbers are the best since he came up, but if you look at the whole season to this point he contributed absolutely nothing for two thirds of it. That's not an All Star caliber season.

Puig's have been that much better that it should outweigh the fact that other guys have played more games.

    Puig against Pence? No contest.

Puig against Parra? Again no contest. Heck, Parra is 6/15 on steal attempts. And he also plays in a hitter's park. Despite that, Puig has as many homers as Parra does.

He'll make it via the fan vote if he's not chosen as a reserve.
