too much football to watch baseball live. The problem is the morons on ESPN spoil the game. It's not even dark in Detroit, but they won't play without lights, so there's a delay while they try to get the lights back on
MLB playoff scheduling mystifying like the NBA. They have a west coast game today and instead of taking advantage and having that be late (9 PM or even 10 PM Eastern), they start it at 5 PM local time, pushing the ALCS to the afternoon.
Red Sox went from almost being down 2-0 to being up 2-1 TBS guys just said during the regular season, you normally wouldn't bunt in that situation (the Cardinals bunted). Of course you would've! It was Lance Lynn at the plate!
So yesterday the Dodgers started at 5:05 local time and today they started at 1:05 local time. They made the ALCS the primetime game tonight. Tons of runners stranded yesterday and today, to go along with double plays and horrible baserunning (Punto getting picked off second down 2 runs late in the game).
McCarver just credited Roger Craig with teaching the split-fingered changeup. He mentioned it after he claimed Benoit threw a split-fingered change. Craig has helped spread the usage of the traditional splitter, which is a fastball (the pitch he threw throughout his career), not the change. Anyway, Peavy's walks appeared to wake up the Detroit bats. Series is even. Interesting thing I didn't realize: Jake Peavy said he's legally blind without corrective lenses. He wears contacts and still has trouble seeing the signs.
Football last night. I watched the condensed game. Miguel Cabrera killed Detroit again. Double plays, terrible fielding, terrible baserunning. Not sure why he was sent since he can't even run.
they said Hanley wouldn't be in the lineup, but the Dodgers reversed course 30 minutes before first pitch Puig dropped to 6th
Cards light up Kershaw. They've traditionally done well against him, with the exception of Game 2 this series, when Kershaw was aided by the shadows. He threw 48 pitches in the third, a career-high
the ball continues not to carry at Busch two balls that should've been homers died on the track Also, Beltran with a fantastic catch on a ball in the gap.
Hopefully the Red Sox can seal this to set up a World Series rematch all these years later... It would be the 2 best teams of the last decade going head to head.
I wish they started Tuesday tues-wed-fri a better setup than now, thursday and saturday going against football
