No question about it. It's why Trout should've been the MVP last year and why he deserves it again this year. Cabrera is a slightly better hitter, but Trout is vastly better on the basepaths and in the field.
Cabrera and Fielder no-showing the postseason again. Combined 8/31, no homers, 1 RBI Fielder with Detroit in the postseason: 13/67, 1 homer, 3 RBI, 3 walks Small sample size, but I'm sick of hearing how great these guys are when they've been very underwhelming in the postseason (and Fielder is no longer an elite hitter even in the regular season).
How about Maddon starting Hellickson over Archer, despite Archer being much better this season? Then Hellickson loads the bases and Maddon pulls him in the second inning.
Moneyball lives. Back to back heartbreaking 5 game losses to the same team in the ALDS. It's 2001 all over again!
Announcers seem to be right, that wasn't a technical tag by Molina there. It looks like the glove never touches the baserunner when they collide or after. I'm guessing this just falls into the neighborhood play idea like touching second base on a double play
fucking Carlos Beltran. Nice of him to swing the bat. 450 average in the playoffs but all he could do as a Met was look there at strike 3.
Tigers pitchers combine for a 1 hitter. Boston shutout at home in the playoffs for the first time since 1918
