If Davis holds up at MLB, I'd say Jets are 2 OLBs and 2 Safeties away from a scary one (provided Landry walks, which I think he will do.)
See I think if you bring back Thomas at the vet min again, resign bell and landry. Revis comes back healthy, with one strong pass rusher this D is legit
Yeah they are slow as hell too, I want the jets to get a top OLB in the draft and sign Paul Kruger from the Ravens, dude is a Rex guy and has a heck of a motor The best OLB's are in the 250 range and quick and strong as hell
Paul Kruger is 6-4 and 270 pounds. So your contridicting yourself saying that Thomas's and Pace's size make them slow, but want a guy like Kruger. Harrison is 240, but he's 6 feet tall. He is a compact power rusher, not a speed guy. Suggs is 265 as is Woodley. Aldon Smith is 260. The Best OLBs in a 34 are not all around 250. Seriuosly, go watch these kids play and not just read other draft reports. There is a shit ton of video available on the web. Guys like Ansah who is listed at 270 (and rumored to be 280) or other bigger guys have exactly what it takes to play in our scheme. Rex, if retained, wants versatile guys with length and power along the front 7. Its part of the reason he has never attempted to replace Thomas or Pace. Don't forget that before age caught up with them they were Key players for our strong defenses. What we need, for what Rex wants in a starter, are guys who have power at the point of attack, the ability to set the edge agaisnt the run, shed and make tackles, and play in space when called to. They must also be good pass rushers. With linemen like Coples and Wilkrson eating up Doubles they should go after a guy like Ansah or Jordan who can be dangerous when getting one on one blocking, yet big enough to handle the other tasks of the job.
Shit Kruger is a big dude, didn't think he is that big, but I meant like they need a guy who is quick and it is rare to find big guys like that with speed and quickness, I want a speed rushers because this defense has no team speed, so I basically meant like big guys can't be speed rushers (or it's rare)
It's understandable. The thing wit our defense is we do not want one trick pony speed guys. If Rex is retained he needs those big bodies on the edge to be able to take on a tackle in the run game. Smaller speed rushers will get eaten up trying to set the edge in the running game. With Wilkerson and Coples creating havoc already on passing downs one more true threat will make this defense nasty. He does not have to be a true speed demon, but someone who can either beat the single blocker by a power bull rush to collapse the pocket or rip under him to get the OT off balance. The more guys we have that are adept against the run and the pass the easier it is to disguise pressure. Rex will value versatility over flat out speed.
Jones: Spinal stenosis. Jordan: Too weak to play three downs. Not fast enough to just be situational. Will lose his change of direction speed when he adds muscles to that tall frame. Mingo: One trick pony who doesn't have elite speed like Bruce Irvin. Werner: Can a guy with his limited football experience be converted to the more complex OLB position? Ansah: Also has limited football experience and his age is a huge question mark. Can't find his date of birth listed anywhere and age-fraud is very common among African soccer players (which Ansah used to be). Draft Warmack!
Hahahahahahahaha thats true, Colorado is bad, but still I think he had like 10 pressures that game, and yeah but this is how good he is playing defense for the first time in his life!

In the end..that's likely the right decision. He's still extremely raw in terms of time at the position & w/ the draft already having 4-5 legit first round pass rushers..he has a good chance to end up as a top 5 pick in 2013
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1784741 12/16/2012 - UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr is expected to remain at UCLA and not declare for the NFL draft. Barr, a junior, emerged as one of the top linebackers in the nation this season after moving from receiver in the spring. He has 13.5 sacks, the most in the nation, and 20.5 tackles for a loss, the fourth-most nationally. Barr said, "Nothing is set in stone." But he said coming back is "where my heart is." The last piece to his decision will come after receiving an NFL draft evaluation. "I have an idea what I want to do, but that's going to make things much more clear," Barr said.
Last I heard Kiper had him at 13 on his big board. Not sure what he can gain by staying (see Matt Barkley).
If he ends up coming out he is perfect for the Jets. Great blend of size/length for Rex's scheme & athleticism which is a dire need in the front 7
