What an absolute fucking joke FIFA is. The US finally has a team that can make a run and they decide to change the format for the draw and screw all the non Euro and CONMEBOL teams.
I'm going out on a limb and say that Mexico has a better chance to get through than the US.... Croatia and Cameroon certainly are beatable.
Thing is Ghana Portugal and US may beat on each other and will come out victorious. I think US HAS to beat GHANA
One of the other story lines from our group and it doesn't involve the US but the Boateng brothers will play against each other, one from Ghana the other from Germany.
As predicted we got stuffed , spain (ranked 1 in world) , holland and chile , no team ranked below 15 and whoever finishes 2nd will likely have the pleasure of some mob called Brazil. Thinking we might as well play young players for the experience.
To be fair the Aussies are the lowest ranked team in the tournament so they should have a tough draw but all the Anglo nations got fucked. England is stuck with Italy and Uruguay.
I know it's random and all, but I feel like FIFA always finds a way to make things more difficult for the US.
Not sure if they are doing that but if they are, than they are the dumbest organization in the world. No country in the world has the purchasing power as USA. And World Cup draws big audiences here when USA is in it. So that makes me think they are not doing anything specific to screw USA. By the way USA will play first game against Ghana. Then against Portugal and final game is against Germany. This to me is pretty good. If Germany wins their first 2 games, they might play with young guys instead of their regulars. All we need to do is win against Ghana and draw against Portugal.
Yeah the scheduling of the games is the hope, this article points out a very similar line of thinking but we also travel the most :shit: http://deadspin.com/the-usmnt-probably-wont-win-the-world-cup-1478044927
from a readers email Spain #3, Chile #5, Netherlands #9, Australia #53 (might as well be 5,000) Germany #4, Portugal #16, USA #17, Ghana #24 Portugal and Ghana both sound scary because of our recent history and in the case of Portugal that they're traditionally strong, but neither of them hold a candle to the Netherlands (or of course, Spain). Chile isn't traditionally a super power, but don't sleep on them - they're really fucking good. Don't get me wrong - G is no joke, but there's a top 10 team in B that isn't getting out of group no matter how good they play. If Australia gets a point I'll consider it a win and the opponent a loss
I took the last summer from Lisbon to Lagos and the Algarve is beautiful. I also went to Cabo Sao Vicente aka the farthest SW point in continental Europe. I love Portugal, great food too.
The US WILL advance from that overrated group. Portugal is a one man team, and he won't carry them at a world cup.. Ghana's mindfuck over the US is done and Klinsi CAN be Germany. I'm worried for Mexico.
I went to college and had a bunch of classes with Patrick Nyarko. I know he's from Ghana and is a ridiculously good soccer player (He was all-american in college). I know he played for the Ghana national team a few times, I wonder if he's going to be playing the US in the cup
6th and last games of Champions League Group Stage starting at 2:45 PM ET Galatasaray and Juventus playing in Istanbul. Winner will advance to knockout stage. A draw will advance Juve unless Kopenhagen doesn't beat Real Madrid(A tall order). I am shaking at the moment. If we defeat Italians I might run naked in the snow. Galatasaray's last 9 games against Italians at home is promising. Six wins and 3 draws in last 9 games. Let's hope it is another win.
