Agree 100% The first game never should have been as close as it was. We left points all over the field. As long as we don't help them again, no way in hell a rookie QB comes in here and beats us. I think this game will look alot more like the Colts game, than the first Dolphins game. We win this one taking a knee in Victory Formation.
I've been saying for weeks that Miami should have beaten us the first time. So many factors came into play that allowed us to escape South Beach with a win. Santonio Holmes, the only person to do a thing against Miami, will obviously not be playing in this game, BUT I'm starting to believe that this offense is better off without him. The offense has looked better since his departure and maybe that's because the need to force him the football is no longer there. That being said, someone is going to need to step up and make a play. We can't rely on Holmes because he won't be there. You can't rely on Reggie Bush's knee acting up. You can't rely on a LaRon Landry pick six again, or Dan Carpenter missing two field goals. This is going to be an extremely tough, physical football game like the first one and it will probably come down to who wins the turnover and special teams battles, much like the first contest. We had trouble once Revis went down the first time, but now we've had weeks without him to prepare. Tannehill has also raised his game up another level in the weeks since our first match-up. Either team can win this team can win this game. It's hard for me to pick either way. This team may very well be deflated after yesterday though.
Jets offense seems to function better without Holmes. Sanchez 68% compl yesterday - Kerley and him are clicking and Keller is back. Have to think having Keller back will be a huge difference in this game. The played awful in Miami and won - they played their style of ball and get a big win.
Hopefully we can blow them out. But more than likely this game will be close. I say the Jets win 24-17
If good Sanchez shows up the edge has to go to the Jets. If normal Sanchez shows up, Miami gets the nod. Dolphins coming off the bye is an advantage and face it, Tannehill has been playing better then Sanchez. I expect a typical slugfest these two have with the game being decided by a FG.

It will be a close game. That extra week of rest and preparation gives the fish an advantage and I worry about a let down after the Pats game. We are at home, and seem to be adjusting to life without Revis and Holmes pretty well, but color me worried.
a) Life of a rookie QB. I think the Jets defense will look different and that will negate any positives that Tannehill has shown. Not having Revis will help, but right now throwing at Cro doesn't seem to be option. b) Can't really say except Indy. And yes, the Jets rush defense has rarely allowed any back breaking runs since SF. Foster had one, but I think Foster and HOU oline is better than yours. Reggie is going to have to pound it inside, and I know he has gotten better at that, but can he do it consistently for a game, especially if Landry, COples, or Wilkerson get him a couple times? Bell has also been going low on tackles recently. c) The NE run defense is considered similar in rankings to Miami. We still got 100 yards and converted many 3rd and shorts on them. I would say that the run game won't win us the game, but it will open up the play action. I'm not saying expect Indy, just that the run game looks good enough now to open up play action. e) If Sanchez plays like he did against NE and none of your D lineman can push an offensive lineman 7 yards into the backfield (Wilfork and Ngata only can do that) I see that game being good enough. Kerley is emerging as the annoying guy that always gets 1st downs. Keller is back and Hill is out there. No more Gates, Cumberland, Schillens, Tebow lining up as the 4 WRs. f) Rivalry games are fun, they can go both ways. I never thought you would sweep us under Rex while we split with NE but you did the first two years. I do think we will be ready for you, but I do expect the Jets to get down early because of your bye. I mentioned this in another thread, but I have never ever seen Sanchez go 9/10 on a drive and single handedly march down the field with the longest run being 4 yards. Ever. It's usually Brady doing that against us. Again it was the NE pass defense, but the chunk yardage plays have been more and more effective since SF. Again I think the SF game turned a corner. And like you said, besides stupid plays the Dolphins could be 5-1. Can you imagine, besides stupid plays and bad lucks the Jets could be 5-2? That's the way the AFC is currently. But Cumberland, Gates, and Schillens won't be the main targets anymore. We will have Hill, Kerley, and Keller in addition to Cumberland. Also, while losing Revis hurts, Cro has shut down Andre, Wayne, and Lloyd. I'm not too worried and if Tannehill and the Dolphins try to pick on Cro, I see a couple more interceptions tallied up for Cro. Your main key is going to attack the LBs, not the outside because the outside while not elite, is still above average. I believe Greene passed his concussion test again. He came back into the game against NE and he passed it again today I think if normal Sanchez shows up, we still have the edge. In MIA, even if you make the field goals, you barely beat us with terrible Sanchez. You need terrible Sanchez to show up plus no turnovers. It can happen, I'm not ruling it out, but I don't see Sanchez playing terrible. I could see one of these 21/36 games for 250 yards 1 TD and 1 INT being enough to beat you. We will see thought.
^^ by the same token, Tannehill played 1 of his worst games and we were still a missed field goal away from taking the win

Fair point. We will see come Sunday. I just don't see Tannehill playing anything better than average and if they try to throw on Cro its going to be a long day for them. You guys did have the stupid run with Bush instead of kneeling. And the Jets playcalling that day was line Tebow up at WR and HB. Tell Tebow to run backwards in the RZ. I think both teams will have better playcalling, and the Jets playcalling has improved greatly since that SF game.
Absolutely fair point. Cro essentially eliminated Hartline (aside from one big play) so it will be up to Fasano, Bess, Clay (get over his dropsies), Reggie and Gaffney in the passing game. Likewise, Holmes killed us last game but he is no longer there. With that being said, the Jet offense does not seem to miss him at all. In every Jet game, I am always weary of Keller. He seems to have a big game against the Dolphins everytime. I will pretty much pencil him in for at least 6 catches 90 yards and a TD.
^We need help from the running game... Reggie Bush has been bad the past 2 weeks... Hopefully the bye got him healed up and ready to go... Cause he does a 12 for 17 yards or 19 for 48 yards this Sunday, we lose guaranteed...
Yup ... I'm with you man. Metlife will be rockin and lookin to pounce at any Tannehill mistake. It's pretty crazy that's what Reggie has had the last 2 games and yet we managed to win both games!
Keller down the seam from Sanchez seems to work once to twice a game no matter what. And while Holmes lit you up, it was more because there was nobody else to throw too. I think Kerley will give you guys fits on 3rd downs and we hit one big play to Hill via penalty or catch. It sounds low, but first to 24 probably wins? Reggie needs to run inbetween the tackles to beat the Jets. Bouncing runs to the outside all day long will be difficult if he doesn't establish the inside presence. You need to work him on wheel routes and screens too. See if he can make that one guy miss, because he usually does. Just have to be careful because one bad read he can get popped on those plays.
Have you watched him?? How can you not see he is impressive. He leads the league in QB rating facing 5 or more rushers ... he is near top in 4th quarter QB rating. Still only has a 76 QB rating, but has played increasingly well in each of the last 3 games. I consider 80 a good goal for QB rating for rookies. The adjustments he is making on the line, the throws he makes, his poise in the face of pressure and pocket footwork are all miles ahead of where everyone (including me) expected. He did not play well against the Jets the first game, maybe that is what you are basing it on.
