I'm new to the whole draft process. I never paid attention before or really cared about college football until a couple of years ago when I joined this boards. But for what I've read the last 2 years about the draft, "next year's class is even better than this one" seems to be one of the most used lines. Then, the mocks created in december suddenly become outdated, and even the february ones are still far from how they'll look one month later. In other words: we don't know how the next class will pan out until we're in march 2012. Please don't get me wrong WW85, I (think I) understand your point, these players look great right now and IF everything continues as it should, then it could be a great class. My point is just directed @ dcm: I wouldn't be too excited to trade this years pick for the promise of what could be there next season. --- Now about the 2012 class: I have limited access to college football (only one or two games by ESPN per week)... if I had the chance to follow only a couple of teams next season, which ones would you advice me to try to watch (and what players)? Thanks!
You caught me! Upshaw can be a 1st round prospect if he stays healthy, that high ankle sprain really hindered him most of the season. Not many true 3-4 OLBs don't come around often, not to mention from a well respected defensive coach like Saban. Hopefully Hightower is recovered fully from his '09 injury and has shed that weight he packed on, at one point last season he was demoted to a 2 down LB, which is astounding considering he excelled at pass coverage pre-injury. Still a very effective runstuffer and surprising passrusher, just needs to get his east-west speed back. Dre Kirkpatrick has all the tools to be a great corner(smaller than listed though), he just needs to be more physical in man and run support. Great hips. And if Hosley has a repeat of his great Sophomore season, he will rocket to close to the top of the CB board, if not the top spot...
