ROFLMAO What? Leon Hess was a clueless piece of crap excuse for an owner and he didn't care until right before he died if the Jets won or lost.
No. "We" the Jet fans.....not you the self-absorbed, never-saw-him-even-play psycho "fringe" act....but 'WE' the Jet fans celebrate our Super Bowl winning MVP, Pro Football Hall-of-Fame quarterback. You rip Eli Manning, New York Giant Super Bowl winning quarterback. You rip Joe Namath, New York Jet Super Bowl winning quarterback. You mock Super Bowl winning QBs, even those that were JET QBs. We Jet fans do not. Bill Parcells once said to T.O. that when it's you that always seems to have a problem......the 'problem' probaby is you. Shut up junc, your broken record act has gotten stale, very stale ........front-runner. What the hell would you even know about a Super Bowl?
didn't deserve the MVP, his play didn't deserve the HOF but his importance to the game did, he's the most overrated player in the history of the game. if he was playing today frauds like you would be ripping him to shreds. yes I am a frontrunner, the worst kind of frontrunner- the kind that sticks w/ their teams through thick and thin not the ones that won't even tell which teams they root for b/c they are afraid for some reason. back to Joe- he was mediocre at best. I watch the SB every year which I assume you do as well so I guess I know as much as you do?
Lol. Dude just says controversial shit for ratings. If he truly believes that he is jumping off a cliff with that statement. This defines the problem with NY sports media. Instead of talking about building a successful franchise around your star player, they just blame them for everything that goes wrong.
Whoever said Joe Namath was mediocre is young, clueless or both. The rules in those days were not geared for the passing game. Bump and run was legal and so was the brutal head slapping at the line. The QB had little protection and all manner of serious hits were encouraged to sell the game. Today's game bares no resemblance to that era. Namath called his own game and made most of his calls at the line of scrimmage. He was a master when upright.
Jets, Jets Just to add that Leon Hess was was one of the heroes of the Battle of the Bulge when he was able to coordinate oil supplies for Patton's army. The ignorance on this board never ceases to amaze me.
Right on about Namath. Here is a link to a clip from NFL films, where Al Davis, Sid Gillman John Madden & Bill Walsh essentially call him one of the greatest QB ever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrUgB55lLM4
is he like the old yankee fan that used to scream about them all the time. i think it was rondell white who he just absolutely hated. GET HIM OUTTA HEEEERRREEEEE
I just can't disagree more strongly with you. You have to compare players to their contemporaries. He broke all kinds of records, had elite stats for most of his career, was an excellent play caller, etc. He was regarded at the time as the best or one of the best two or three. For a long time. He was a massive success. A "mediocre at best" QB does not set the record for passing yards in a season, and have that record remain for 12 years. Joe did that. He was the first QB to throw for over 4,000 yards. It wasn't broken until they made rules against pass interference, limited hitting the QB, and oh yeah, added two games to the regular season schedule. There' just no way you can say his name doesn't deserve a place among the greats. It's true that he stayed in the game 3 seasons too long, and that did diminish his stats a bit. He should have retired earlier. But that doesn't take away from his overall greatness or mean that he didn't deserve to be in the HoF, or mean that he was an "average" QB by any stretch.
"Frauds like me?" Did ya just get personal? Ok, fine by me killer, just remember that the next time you get up on the cross and try and pass off your slights as reactionary. I could respond in kind by calling you a snarky little prick but no need. Instead, I'd rather my commments (in red) show your assumtive remarks for what they are: part of an act that's grown stale, like 2-day old bread. Go shovel the front walk, Super Bowl-winning Jet basher.
Celebrate reason # 1: We beat our hated Dolphins and knocked them out of the playoffs Celebrate reason # 2: The owner announced the coach is coming back No one was celebrating ending the season 8-8. Nothing wrong with ending the season with 2 wins in a row for the first time but the players were not dancing because of 8-8. He is a douche, just when I thought it was safe to listen to him, he reminded of why I love "Schein on Sports". Get prepared for Mike to act like the Pope of the NY Super Bowl. The week of the Super bowl he is going to act like he's putting the game on himself, its in his backyard and he owns NY. Its going to be sickening. I don't care how well things go the week leading into the game, New Orleans is the best place for it. He already started last week telling everyone how he went to a presentation and NY is going to be incredible. He's a douche, the game, media day and most of the fans are going to be in NJ, not Long Island!!!!!!!!!! F "Wait a minute"
Your Namath bit has gotten so tired it is beyond annoying. You like to portray yourself as a knowledgable smart football and Jets fan, but this constant and repetitive Namath bashing makes you appear petty, ignorant, and very stupid. Not a single person on this board who saw Namath play remotely agrees with you. You have entered the Champ zone with these posts in threads that have nothing to do with Namath. Let's see, we have people like Walsh, Madden, Lombardi, and everyone over 50 on one side and you on the other. You have completely lost what little respect long timers on this board had for you. You have become a troll. It may be time to place you on ignore.
awww, someone is upset today. What happened to your great sense of humor? fraud. It's not a bit it's reality, take off the Joe underoos and look at it logically. His team knew he was holding them back, they almost strangled him for blowing games in '67 & '68. Until they got him under control they couldn't win and they only won ONE year! we are not talking about some guy that won throughout his career, won 2 div titles in years the 2nd place team was only .500. Spare me the era crap, against his peers he wasn't great outside of a few years. That's awesome those guys had nice things to say but for the millionth time they were talking about his ABILITY not his actual play on the field. Ability wise he's one of the all time greats, in actual play he's not even in the discussion no matter how much this upsets you. Put me on ignore, it's your loss not mine. If you want someone to lie and pretend like Joe was Brady you have the wrong person. If you want someone that deals in reality I am here for you.
Why don't you listen to the video, or try to listen to others rather than running your mouth (or in this case your fingers) for the first time in your life. The quotes in the video from these all time greats talk about how well Namath played and were NOT about his ability. You have a serious comprehension problem. Your inability to understand football in the 60s and 70s and compare it properly to today's game and your reliance on quotes from one teammate who did not like him while ignoring all other information makes you look stupid. We get it already with your Namath opinion. You don't have to post it in every thread or respond with this tired old annoying argument to every poster who has a Namath avatar. How about you move on to something else after 10 years of this BS? Or is that all you have?
If anyone was listening, I just called in to Joe & Evan, asking what they thought about signing both Tate and Maclin.
