In Rex's defense, he can only coach up the talent that his GM gives him. Tannenbaum has been absolutely awful both in free agency and the draft for several years now. The lack of depth is finally catching up to them.
One thing though, I still don't get why the media is making a bigger deal about the Jets getting blown out by an NFC team that everyone expected them to lose to vs. the Giants losing to a division team and now being 0-2 in their division. Sure the Jets looked pathetic and haven't looked good since week 1, but to me everyone is overacting. You ask everyone what the Jets record would be after week 4 and you would have gotten 2-2 or 1-3. Jets are 2-2, and 2-0 in the Division. Sure they look like dog shit, but even if they lose next week... Let's say they go into NE 3-3 (beat the Colts) and win that game and beat the Dolphins. Suddenly the Jets are 4-0 in the division and 5-3 record. Not one person here or anywhere would complain about that. Hell even if the Jets were 4-4 in week 8 and were 3-1 in the division, they'll still be in a pretty decent place based on the fact that the 2nd half schedule isn't bad. There's still time for things to come together. The season may end up being complete crap, but until we definitively know for sure, let's not overreact to getting blown out by one of the best teams in football.
the jets might enter mondays game still in first. The 49ers will beat the bills and with the broncos clicking they might beat the pats. Lets just enter week 7 with first place on the line. Im looking at 3-3. Beat the colts and week 7 will be fun. Beat the Texans and it will be more fun.
Standings-wise, the Jets are fine. There's still a chance on paper to turn this around. There's no doubt about that. The Jets are right in the thick of things if they figure out how to improve on their recent play. The question is: without Revis and now maybe without Holmes, can the Jets possibly turn it around and become a playoff team? The opportunity is still there, but the way we've played the last 11 quarters, the Jets look more like a 5-11 team than a 10-6 team.
This team and there young QB . Has regressed considerably in the last 2 years. We lost some good players and some bad.But shouldn't sanchez be used to this? He gives up to easy. Is very timid against good to great defenses. And once in a while he will throw for 200 plus yds. Never 300 yds. Maybe once or twice he came close . Tannehill threw for 400 in a losing effort. But still 400 yds is gun slinger type of talent . I am not a tebow homer . I actually wanna see more greg mclroy. So if they change to tebow and that does not pan out. We have options in Mclroy. We don't have to worry if sanchez gets ruined. He sucks anyway.
I agree that the season is far from over, and furthermore, I tend to agree that there have been some irrefutable overreactions. Having gotten that out of the way, I just find our offense to be inordinately frustrating to watch. Our offensive execution is so putrid that I honestly haven't enjoyed the games lately. In addition, as a longtime Sanchez supporter, I'm just starting to get fed up with the guy. He just consistently makes poor decisions and inaccurate throws and he simply doesn't make enough explosive plays to make up for his lack of consistency. I've been patient for quite some time now. When he was a rookie, it was cool for him to be the weakness of the team. But he's in his fourth year now . . . isn't it about time for him to become a strength of our team? When are we allowed to be fed up with involuntarily feeling the need to cringe every time our starting quarterback drops back to pass?
If the Jets don't get markedly better extremely soon, week 7 will be anything but fun. I need to see this team play a decent, COMPLETE game again (something they haven't done since week 1) before I can start worrying about who is in first place.
As much as I can't stand Fatty he is exactly correct in both of these. Rex came in with a puff of steam but everyday he seems more and more like Buddy. It's all defense and no clue about the offense. It's shame because Rex seems like a really fun guy but the truth he's being exposed as one dimensional. I think he even had a comment in his book about walking into offensive meetings and having no idea what they were talking about.
ha ha - i read that last nite and was gonna paste it - funny read. the authors not bad looking either.
geez - listening to MF today - when was he the manager of a major league BB team? no wonder he takes shit from alot of people. unreal.
What the hell is he supposed to do with the utter shit that Tannenbaum has dumped on him? Make a superbowl contender out of that garbage? The fact he got that puke to the championship game his first two years should make him coach of the century.
If you cawll up and act like a goofbawl trying to entertain youah little buddy on da tweetuh or somethin, ya can't get it through, okay. We're on a delay fah a reason. (BTW all the prank calls always go through lmao)
