greinke will likely start friday, making him the first pitcher to start three consecutive games for his team.
Heath Bell blew another save... Hanley injured his finger when hitting a fan... Stanton out 4-6 weeks with knee surgery... Good times for the Fish...
^ Heath Bell might be the worst closer in baseball this year, even worse than Mr. Chicken. Oakland/Seattle tied at 1 in the 13th So there will be three games going on at once on Sunday night. NYY/BOS, the Texas game, and this one.
oh, you're right. I had read someone say the first ever but they didn't do a good job looking it up. First Brewer, I believe.
It had to have happened on a regular basis prior to 1901. I would have figured there may have been an oddball situation sometime in the past 50 years, though.
I guess Lincecum was reinvigorated by the All Star break. Great game from him, but he comes out after 8 shutout innings against Houston, and a walk, double, and wild pitch on the seeming game-ending strikeout means that he gets a ND. http://www.chron.com/sports/article/Cardinals-record-tying-7th-whips-Cubs-12-0-3725472.php ST. LOUIS (AP) — Jake Westbrook worked seven innings of three-hit ball and the St. Louis Cardinals finally backed him — and then some — by tying a 76-year-old major league record with seven doubles in a 12-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night. Rafael Furcal's go-ahead single in the seventh turned out to be a mere appetizer as the Cardinals also matched an 86-year-old franchise record for runs in an inning. St. Louis totaled 10 hits with multiple hits by three players including pinch-hitter Allen Craig, who doubled twice with an RBI. The Cardinals managed five hits the first six innings before jumping on Justin Germano (0-1) and three other relievers. They tied the major record for doubles in an inning by the Boston Bees at St. Louis in the first inning of Game 1 of a doubleheader on Aug. 25, 1936. They tied the franchise record for runs in an inning set Sept. 16, 1926, against the Phillies, in the third inning of the opener of a doubleheader in Philadelphia.
Just heard Colby Lewis (Tex., W-L 6-6, ERA 3.43) out for the year - torn ligament, will have Tommy John surgery.

Wandy Rodriguez to Pittsburgh. Pagan just made a spectacular play. Deep line drive to the gap, he makes a full out dive, catches it, gets up, and makes a great throw and they double off the Padre who was on first.
What did the Pirates give up? I don't think Rodriguez will help them too much. The Reds should get another SP. They could win the Central with the addition of another good pitcher.
