I feel bad for Portland. Supposdely OKC would have gone Oden if they had the first pick Ohh throw Rubio on that list and take uhh Durant off I guess. I like basketball too much hahaha
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/lakers/2012/11/09/mike-brown-fired-by-lakers/1694785/ Mike Brown fired. The hire never made sense in the first place, and firing him five games into a new season makes even less sense.
Apparently Mike Dantoni is the 1st choice to replace him...NO JOKE there folks Also, Kobe factor the last game...Look at him eyeing Mike Brown
no, it doesn't. It is illogical to fire him now. They had a whole offseason to consider it and evidently wanted to keep him. Now after 5 games suddenly he needs to go? Unless he pulled an Isiah Thomas, this move just cannot make sense.
what exactly are you saying? that they should have anticipated how badly the team would play and thus should have fired him before they actually played a game to show it? that is the only reason to fire him before the season. but not firing him now because they didn't anticipate that doesn't solve the problem.
I could see that. He had success with Nash in the past. They could run a similar up tempo game. Too bad Nash is injured, though. You can't expect a team to instantly click. The Heat weren't world beaters, and weren't even playing consistently until half the season was over right after they rebuilt with Lebron. It does seem a bit stupid to fire him that quickly. If he wasn't a good fit, they should have realized that like 3-4 months ago.
I'm not sure I agree with you, so what you are saying is that the Lakers who BTW have no idea what Dwight Howard is going to do over the summer in 2013 should suck up the year with Mike Brown because it was a horrible move to begin with? While I agree they never should have kept him to begin with and I'm still not sure why they hired him to begin with but it was clear this was not a short term problem. There were glaring issues with the team and it doesn't take an NBA guru to see that this team was not going to win the title with this guy at the helm. When you have that mentality that anything less then winning a championship is failure you can't waste a season. BTW D'Antoni I think would be a good fit offensively however you have to question the team defense under him. He has history with Nash and Kobe is a big fan because of the Italy connection. I think D'Antoni played with Kobe's dad in Italy.
how should they have known that 3-4 months ago before this team ever played a game? this wasn't just 5 games, they were 0-8 in the preseason. and while the preseason could be rationalized before a regular season game was played, after 5 games of the regular season with essentially the same results of the preseason, it is plainly evident that this problem was not just a short-lived issue.
Exactly, if you go back to the playoffs last season and include preseason Brown and the Lakers were something like 1-15 in their last 16 games. Not exactly clicking on all cylinders. Edit: From the OKC playoffs series they lost in 5 so that's 1-4, 0-8 in the preseason and 1-4 this season. That's 2-16 in their last 18 games under Brown.
I applaud the Lakers for realizing it wasn't working or gonna work and taking action before it becomes too late. Will be interesting to see if Kobe gives his blessing to D'Antoni.
D Antoni would be interesting. There is a lack of bench in LA and not very good 3 point shooters. D Antoni would have to tweak his offense and factor in Nash/Kobe age
I didn't say they should suck up the year. It was a week into the regular season. I wonder if a coach has ever been fired this early prior to this.
