You're right, I was talking about the Ewing draft lottery theory, not actual Ewing theory where teams get better after losing their best player. Bad choice of words. I wasn't saying the league is definitely rigged, but that video looked shady as hell. That was my only point. It's probably just coincidence, but who knows. You can tank in any sport. Why is basketball special? Tanking shits on the fans who buy season tickets, and it will ultimately cost them money, especially if the draft pick they tanked to get is a bust. Most people don't run their franchises like that, at least the ones that care about ticket holders. Tanking is not in a team's best interest. Then again, if you have a franchise that already has poor attendance and ticket sales, you could tank 2 years in a row and then have a really good team. Maybe that's what Jordan's got going on with the Wizards? That would almost seem genius although I don't think it works most of the time.
That's what tanking prevents against. Knicks fans were absolutely fine losing for two season and getting rid of bad contracts to make a run at Lebron in FA. Multiple teams did this. LAL is set up to do this, this time around. So is DAL. Teams do it for FA, they would definitely do it for the draft. Also, NBA teams would do it because that one player can fill stands and create wins. And you have to look at the drop off in talent from the top of a good draft to outside the top 5. This is the 2003 draft: Lebron Darko Carmelo Bosh Wade --------- Kaman Hinrich TJ Ford Michael Sweetney Jarvis Hayes Michael Pietrus Nick Collison Marcus Banks Luke Ridnour Reece Gaines You're telling me nobody would have tanked for Lebron if it was guaranteed to land them LeBron? Like I said teams don't make moves or hold off on moves for big FA, they would do the saem for drafts There is no logical or easy way to go about it. I would rather a lottery to avoid straight up tanking. I mean I think we saw GS tank last year so their lottery pick would stay protected and they wouldn't lose it! Teams tank to hold onto protected picks why wouldn't they tank to get the #1 pick?
Thursday's TNT game is good, Memphis at OKC. So is the ESPN Wednesday, MIA at BK. MIA/BOS game slightly boring. Rondo is out with a hyper extended knee
Subpar frist half viewing wise. Ehh game Tied at 45 at half. Rondo is getting an MRI. Some fear torn ACL
Ray Allen with a big 3. Why the play before Wade shot the 3, I don't know. Waste of a possession. Heat need to foul and then hit another 3
