I'm not too sure either will have great coverage skills, but UGO has played standing up and can make the conversion to 3-4 OLB, just like other DE's. Both are big guys, that could fit Rex's type of player. I guess it's pick your poison, I just like Ugo's potential better. UGO will be that situational edge 3-4 OLB pass rusher.
IMO if Cliff didnt have a down year and improved from his junior year he'd be a 3rd or 4th round lock but unfourtunately he fell to 5 sacks from his previous 7 . I just like him more as a situational pass rusher, also he is alot faster then his 40 time likes to show and has better technique than Ugo. Its really an up and down arguement, Cliff has some areas better then Ugo and so does Ugo over Cliff, Id like them both but to me Cliff can come in a contribute easily while Ugo needs some time.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS, WW85 Rd 1 - JJ Watt, DE, Wisconsin Rd 1 - Brooks Reed, DE/OLB, Arizona Rd 2 - Mikel Leshoure, RB, Illinois Rd 2 - Rodney Hudson, C/OG, Florida St Rd 3 - Johnny Patrick, CB, Louisville Rd 3 - Marcus Gilbert, OT, Florida Rd 4 - Austin Pettis, WR, Boise St Rd 5 - Jeron Johnson, S, Boise St Rd 6 - Ugo Chinasa, DE/OLB, Oklahoma St My Patriots draft is complete. I wasn't the Pat's GM at first, then Jabba dropped out before the draft started. I decided I put alot of work into this mock, so I took them. JJ Watt fallling was incredible. Watt should've went earlier. Watt's work ethic and ability is off the charts. I wanted Pouncey for #28, no luck, took Reed. Look out Sanchez here comes Reed. I almost went OT at the top of Rd 2, but I liked Leshoure too much. Rodney Hudson is my poor man's Pouncey and is an outstanding player that should be an excellent NFL O-Lineman, and good value. Corners were flying off the board and Patrick was solid pick in rd 3. I had Patrick as a mid rd 2 value I got too cute and didn't address OT sooner, can't have everything. Gilbert is a solid player that can be coached up in the Pat's offense. Pettis is a solid ST player and should contribute right away. I didn't get a "burner" WR/KR..something I wanted to address. Jeron Johnson was falling like a rock and was my BPA. Meriweather situation is cloudy (Gun Spec Crime). Depth is needed. Chinasa is a player under the radar, I like a lot. great value in rd 6 to be used as a situational pass rusher. Could be a later rd pick for the Jets. I know I had more picks than most GMs, but it's how you use the picks that count. I've seen some GMs in other mocks have multiple picks and not be smart.
Scray to see how the pats may reload this year. Twice in this draft you grabbed players I had pegged for the Bears one or two picks later you SOB.... I mean good job.
I'm still bitter about the JJ Watt pick, for 2 reasons. 1) You picked him right ahead of my Chargers pick (he was at the top of my board) 2) The Pats landed him.
Did the same thing to me with both Rodney Hudson and Marcus Gilbert. While I had fun in the draft the bears position combined with thier needs was a bummer. I was really hoping Pouncey was making it to thier round one pick. After he was off the board it seemed that I was going with plan B for the majority of thier picks from there on out.
Akeem Dent really wasn't a need for the Packers, but he's one of my BPAs and should play in a 30 front in the NFL...
WW85 on the Chiefs Player selected by Team section you have Jake Kirkpatrick being selected twice, it should be Sione Fua with the 4th round pick.
Went with Korey Lindsey, the Vikes need a CB (surprised Cato didnt pick one earlier) and Lindsey had a great career at Southern Ill, 14 INTs and 162 tackles. He's a developmental pick but he's smart as hell and has everything youd want in a CB, only problem is he played against less talent then other CB's but will be a starter in this league.
Yeah, I was scrolling through the pick thread and saw you stole chinasa right before the jets and cringed. Chinasa is a kid that I'd love to see the Jets add later on, but only in addition to either an early rd pick or a UFA. I actually really applaud TCGF's strategy to get him along with Ayers. I honestly believe Ayers is best off long term as an ILB in a 34, and would simply hold down an outside spot until Scott heads out (I'm guessing two more seasons). Hopefully by then they'd have either developed Chinasa or found another OLB. Of course he got Matthews, so it's all for nothing, but the idea was sound.
Chinasa is at best a situational player in the right system. Watching him play in OK ST's defense he was standing(no hand on the ground) quite often and uses his size/streght to beat lineman. He isn't fast, more quick and seems to have good technique and uses leverage well to beat opponnents. I feel bad (NOT) that I stole a few from TCGF, i'tsall part of the fun of our Mock. using strategy, anticipating the direction of what another GM is thinking. What's scary is knowing in real life the Patsies do draft just ahead of the Jets.
Its scary knowing that Mark Sanchez will now be staring down talented pass rushers like JJ Watt, Brooks Reed and Cameron Heyward now 2x a year. He is going to have to keep working on that excellent evasion that he showcased last season because our division rivals are adding some mean pass rushers. Ducasse will also have to step it up in year 2.
Rd 1 - Jonathan Baldwin, WR, Pitt Rd 2 - Clint Boling, OG, Georgia Rd 3 - Kris O'Dowd, C, USC Rd 4 - Curtis Marsh, CB, Utah St Rd 5 - Taiwan Jones, RB, E. Washington Rd 6 - Cecil Shorts, WR Mount Union My Bears draft was not what I wanted, but I feel I got some great value in the later picks. Alot rides on Baldwin's ability to be come a true #1 or not. I bet on his upside. Boling is versatile and will start right away. O'dowd have a good senior bowl week and may not be as flawed as many think. Marsh, Jones and Shorts are all high upsde guys who may not have been on the main stream radar. Seeing as GH slotted Shorts to the Jets in the 4th in his last mock I'll blame him if he busts.
