I love it to... I think the Rams are rooting big time for the Lions to go after an OT... they're the only team that can get Ayers before them. Who was your no 1 choice?
I agree, similar indeed. The next few QBs, to be honest, frighten me. None are overly appealing to me with a situation like Washington. Then again, this could be a smokescreen:wink:
I think any WR, as of now, would have been a reach there. The dominoes fell early and potentially threw some draft boards off. And has Mark Ingram to the Fish become the most generic pick of the draft outside the top 5?
If you go strictly BPA then it might make sense to take Ayers there... but LT is so important these days... especially if: 1) your QB is made of glass. 2) your best player on the team is a WR (emphasis on the passing game). 3) you play in a divison with Matthews, Peppers an Allen. The only player (that might fall to 13) I'd consider drafting before a LT is Amukamara... and he won't drop that much.
yeah...I thought of that too. It depends what your strategy is.....picking for need or for luxury. If there was a huge drop in WR talent at that point...then yeah, I agree with making the luxury pick.
I cannot go into details right now, but Akeem aligned with our team needs. I would not consider him a luxury pick because he was our BPA. Like I said, our former BPA was taken.
Clayborn was far and away the BPA...and he also fills a bit of a need for the Pats. Watch out for him as he lines up next to Wilfork.
My explanation for my picks... For the Bucs pick it was a no-brainer. They need a pass rusher bad and Kerrigan was the best one on the board. For the Chiefs it was a harder choice. They need a pass rush bad as well but with both Miller and Kerrigan gone, I was not in love with the other choices available. Instead I decided to go with their 2nd biggest need which was NT. Taylor would be the best talent they had at this position since Pioli took over. He can also eat up more offensive linemen, which will hopefully free up their pass rushers particularly Tamba Hali.
Von Miller that late would be a steal IMO, I know a lot dislike him, but I think he's atleast a top 15 talent. I think the Taylor to the Chiefs pick fills a need, but is a serious reach there at the moment . I think there is a player still on the board at the same position that would have filled the need and been more of a value.
Where exactly would Von Miller fit with the G-Men? He's not big enough to be a DE, and unless they play him as a OLB like I suggested a 4-3 team might, he doesn't seem anything more than a 3rd down pass rusher...
As much as I hate to say it, and Scik is a good guy and all, but that's the worst pick of the first round so far. The Giants have been attempting and failing to make use of these rusher LBs that can't fit their system for years, they need a regular, every down, coverage capable linebacker more than any other position on the field. They tried it with Kiwi, but quickly figured out he's much better off at DE. They tried it with Sintim, and he's just not working out. Even if there was no other Rd 1 value there at the position, a guy in Rd 2 or 3 would have a lot more success on that team. I would be really pissed off if I were a Giant fan and that was the pick.
I think I know who you are talking about and IMO Taylor is better. I feel that by April he will be considered a top 25-30 pick. However, I do agree it was a reach as of now and considered taking a pass rusher who was less of a reach and a certain WR, but in the end I felt that Taylor was the best fit and shake up the draft a little.
I wasn't particularly talking about it being a steal for the Giants, because I don't really understand the fit for the G-Men either, he's not gonna play DE and wouldn't really fit at linebacker. I was more speaking to the fact that I think Miller being taken outside the top 15 is a pretty good value, but he just doesn't fit for the Giants.
Kiwanuika who will be coming back does anything Miller does and then some.... GMen needed a LB in the worst way or Oline depth.
