I was targeting Brown as my nickle corner with the Falcon's 2nd, but I went value at WR instead. Great pick up!
Thanks, I thought Ponder would be a good fit in the WCO. Very happy with my 49ers draft: Rd 1 - Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina Rd 2 - Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois Rd 3 - Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State
The Carolina Panthers made a lot of dumb decisions in previous drafts and only had two picks in the first three rounds. Greg Hardy and Eric Norwood can play OLB in the 3-4, so I stayed away from a pass rusher because those guys will be able to develop. Also, I think this coaching staff will give up on Everette Brown.
Speaking of defensive scheme, 624 has done pretty well drafting versatile defensive players considering the lack of a DC for the Titans. Wilson, who is one of my favorites, and Austin can easily play both schemes and will make the person takes over the defense's job a little easier, 3-4 or 4-3...
Well, Ponder slipped off the board and the WR talent was flying off as well. It being a copy cat league I went with a sliding talent at TE who will play well both as a run blocker and a pass catcher, giving the Phins the ability to play a two TE set much like the pats. Stocker has the talent to quickly over take Fasano as thier starter and gives them another weapon to prove that Henne is not a franchise QB.
I still cannot believe they traded a future 2nd rounder for Armanti fucking Edwards... what I love is that exactly 4 and 6 picks later Moeaki (Chiefs) and Graham (Saints) were taken... 2 TEs that would've been very helpful for the Panthers...
Thx. TE is not at the top of Miami's needs, but in this case the value of the player leaped over the team need. That coupled with the success of Pats two TE system will make the value of the position go up this year. I really think on draft day Stocker does not make it to mid third. He had a good showing at the senior bowl and is a prototype two way TE.
For some reason, Fox and the former staff were really high on Dante Rasario and Gary Barnidge at tight end. ...both players suck.
There are ligit reason why people belive the panthers tanked the season to get Luck. It only serves them right that he went back to school. The team went from a good talent base to a complete joke in about 20 months. from 12-4 to 8-8 to 2-14 in successive seasons. They kept a lame duck coach which rarely happens in the NFL. Thier front office has either been one of the worst around or decided to trash this season. Either way its a joke.
Thanks that was my idea, it's up in the air what type of defense they will have next season so it's nice to get guys that can fit both. I checked their board and they were talking about possibly a 3-4 next season. Marvin Austin was great to pick up in the 3rd, I know he has question marks but his upside is huge. They dealt with Haynesworth, right? _____________________________ Done with both drafts now: TENNESSEE TITANS Rd 1 - Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri Rd 2 - Martez Wilson, LB, Illinois Rd 3 - Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina SEATTLE SEAHAWKS Rd 1 - Derrick Sherrod, OT, Miss St Rd 2 - Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado I like the Titans draft a lot better.
Fisher delt with Ablert. I really think he did a good job of keeping malcontents in line as long as possible. Say what you will about his coaching skills, but the man has a very good reputation around the league and we didn;t see nearly the noise out of Haynseworth that we did under Shanahan. Still, thats a very good draft for the Tits. The Hawks draft is well done as well. Good value at positions of need.
Well ,the Phins draft is over: MIAMI DOLPHINS, Harpua Rd 1 - Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama Rd 3 - Luke Stocker, TE, Tennessee I was hoping a top end QB or WR would fall to 15, no luck. Newton went top 5 and Julio Jones at 10. With both of thier current running backs hitting free agency Ingram was an easy selection. Stocker adds another weapon to an offense that was supposed to flourish with the addition of Marshall last season. Instead it sputered. QB is thier real issue, but at both the 15th and 78th pick the Value for QB was just not there. Ponder going a feew slots before was knd of a dagger to thier plans, but Stocker is no consolation prize, he's the real deal. I would expect them to take a developmental QB later in the draft. I belive Ireland is giving Sprano another year with Henne at the helm. Once that plays out as it should, he'll be freee to fire the coach and replace the QB, if he still has a job.
It's because he's injured, so he's not getting a lot of hype - he tore his ACL in November, so he'll miss the combine. It'd be a hell of a steal if he develops, especially for a team that runs the 4-3.
Injuries are a very real concern with him after this past season, but I think his potential just outshined any other end available at this point. After seeing the way the board fell over these three rounds I might have made some changes to my strategy, but I'd still be really excited about Harris, Carter, and Romeus if I were a Jags fan.
You really focused on defense in the draft..you don't think the Jaguars would target a RB, especially with the latest news about MJD's injury? Or was the value just not there?
