Picked up Guard/Center Rodney Hudson for MC's Packers. After addressing the D-Line in Round 1 they needed an upgrade on the offensive trenches this round. Their guard spot is wide open next year and I thought Hudson was good value.
Fua jumped a few other players on my list because he's got the ability to play in the 4-3 and the 3-4. Ron Rivera will eventually switch to the 3-4 in Carolina.
Daniel Thomas has been an extremely productive RB the past 2 seasons, an underrated prospect. Bengals could use fresh legs in the backfield.
I've done what hopefully John Fox will be doing in Denver...and that's rebuild the defense. Fairley/Casey on the DL...should create the QB pressure that was non-existent this year under McDaniels' watch, and DeAndre McDaniel should add some playmaking ability in the secondary.
Sorry for the holdup guys. Got called into work unexpectedly, forgot to make a board Thanks 624! Hudson I feel is sick value at the end of 2. I almost took him in the first. Athletic OL prospect, I think he'll go in the first by the time the draft rolls around. Looking through the names in the second round, I like the value there more than the first. I hope this is the year we trade down a bit.
Hudson was pretty good value at the back end of the second round, but I don't think he's even close to a first rounder. I'm just not sure too many teams would want to spend a first round pick on a 6'2 guard that weighs under 300 pounds.
The Arizona Cardinals select: OG/OT DeMarcus Love, Arkansas Cleveland and pinpointpennington are OTC.
If Rivera switches to the 3-4, he's gonna need someone like Fua to play NT and shore up that run defense. Plus he's still really useful in the 4-3, as they clearly need DT help. The only thing is if you anticipate the switch to 3-4, I don't know when that will come because he has 4 great linebackers, but out of Davis, Connor, Anderson and Beason, Davis is the only one above 240 lbs. Plus, it would make sense to be more like Wade Davis' 3-4 where the ends work heavily as pass rushers, because Johnson and Hardy are undersized. I'm not bashing the pick though. I'm curious when Rivera might make the switch, but the Fua pick makes a lot of sense in both schemes.
If I had sent a 3 player board with 3 picks before my Dallas pick, I wouldn't have had anyone left. I wanted to get an offensive lineman and while Cannon's fit may be at RG and Leonard Davis is still there I thought Cannon has the upside to warrant a 3rd round pick.
It was between Pinkston and a certain MLB who I think is GREAT value this late in the draft...but OL is definitely a bigger need for the Pats than MLB.
Pretty satisfied with the Brown pick... for CBs the combine is sooo important, but for now it's a value pick at the top of the 3rd... That should seal the Lions draft... a LT, a OLB and a CB in the first threee rounds... all of which were almost the BPA at the time of the pick... I think their GM should give me a call
I love the last 2 picks. Ponder has a lot of upside imo, even if he has subpar throwing power and an iffy throwing motion. And WOW did Marvin Austin drop really far. Great value for the Titans in the 3rd round.
Happy to get Sturd in round 3 for NO. He played MLB with UNC but I think with Gregg Williams, he can be put in a spot to be a pure blitzer and play the outside position as well. He has to get over the pot arrest he had last year but outside of that and the injury he had vs Rutgers that cost his games, he could be a round 2 target for alot of teams.
That's pretty much my thinking. Even though he struggled a bit as a senior at LT, I think he had the best potential to turn into an LT of all the tackles left on the board - his technique and size are there. With the right coaching, I think he has a shot as most of his problems seem to be mental. And at the very least, he provides depth at RT for a team that needs an incredible amount of help in the trenches. If I remember correctly from last year, had Barksdale come out, there was some talk that he might sneak into the 1st because of his potential at LT. Since the Bears got f-ed with the run on tackles in the first round of this mock, I think they'd be willing to take a risk on this type of guy to see if they can strike gold in the late second round. Also, good pick with Marvin Austin....he was my fallback if Barksdale wasn't there for the Bears' second rounder.
