Well, that's it for the Vikes draft. For their sake, let's hope Locker doesn't turn out to be a bum.....because they need a QB to lead that team. Although, the early signs aren't favorable. I like the CB-Davon House pick...Lito Sheppard and Antoine Winfield are getting long in the tooth...and Leslie Frazier is going to want to restock the shelves in his secondary.
Guys....we might be done for the night. Mambo9 (Lions) is from Italy and it's about 5 in the morning in Europe. He will probably make his pick around 4 or 5 our time.
Davon House is a serious sleeper. His head coach at NMSU is arguably the best defensive backs coach in all of college football.
Home now. Loved that Houston fell to me. I admit, I just started doing my draft research yesterday. Looks like there are a bunch of solid DEs we can get in late round 1. I looked at a bunch of them. But most importantly, we need a pass rusher. Houston provides that, and he played some stand-up LB in college, so I think he'll be a fine addition as a pass rusher. We need athletes in our front 7. Houston provides that.
Selection will be up shortly... done! Sorry for the wait guys but I was sleeping at 5 AM That said I would have really liked a CB to fall to me... but at the of the day Carter was the best value over any of the guys remaining. I'm happy with my pick... if DeAndre Levy can stay healthy the Lions have a good young duo in Levy-Crater...
I wish I had more teams in this thing, because there's a handful of guys that are available and just should not be. One guy in particular that I sadly have no need for with either of my teams.
I was thinking the exact same thing earlier, a certain player is available that San Diego and Cincy have no need.
Personal Note on missing Jones: Julio Jones and the Rams are a perfect match. Bradford needs a big WR who can make plays and Jones provided that. I do not understand the Redskins' need for Jones. They don't have a QB to get the ball to a WR as it is. It's a wasted pick. There were other players on the board who are able to contribute immediately for the Skins. The Skins have to keep up with the Joneses (pun intended)... A Note from St. Louis' GM: With the CBA negotiations ongoing, the Rams were not confident leaving improvement for our biggest need up to chance in free agency. We are happy to add Titus Young to are promising offensive attack. Titus after having strong performances at Senior Bowl practices this weekend, showed us he was our guy. Also, The Rams had no choice but to take value/need in round 1 and to absolutely address need/value in round 2. Follow?
There's no reason to think that the Skins wouldn't be able to bring in a veteran QB, and then having a kid like Julio on the roster would greatly benefit the team. They need a go-to stud WR regardless, no reason to question that choice. As for the Rams pick, I'm not sure that adding a small, fast WR to a WR corps entirely made up of small, fast WRs is what they really need. Your first instinct was good, and there are still a couple of players available that would have been an ideal fit here (with better value at that).
I love the rams draft so far, one of my 2-3 favorites. And I agree with you guys, there are some great values left....particularly a certain d-lineman who will be highway robbery when picked now.
Yeah you are right. We looked at taller receivers but Young was highest on our board. Personally though, I want a tall receiver in St. Louis. You are right about the Skins getting a QB, that shouldn't be a problem. But WR first and then QB is like putting the carriage before the horse, IMO.
I disagree, no player would contribute positively as soon as Julio Jones would, he will help Grossman or, hopefully, Palmer in dreadful DC. And don't forget, the Redskins have McNabb and Haynesworth on the table, so one of those would atleast land me a 3rd, altering my draft plan majorly.
