Bama T/G James Carpenter has had a solid 2 days after settling in to LG. Put Jarvis Jenkins on his back, stonewalled Allen Bailey multiple times, and made Chris Nield look silly 1-on-1. Looks like he got the nod at LT today, handled Sam Acho pretty well 1-on-1, but got beat by Brooks Reed in the same scenario...
This is my surprised face. Allen Bailey, the man who killed an alligator by choking it to death, is an impressive physical specimen. I'd be surprised if Scott Wright was able to keep it in his pants long enough to write a description.
How in the shit was this gem from Scott Wright not posted?? Darrell Scott, Maryland RB Notes: Thick, but stiff with average definition. Thick, but stiff, just how Scotty likes em.
Do you other draft gurus agree that Jordan played himself into the middle of round one? Also, where does Brooks Reed figure to go and can he be a 3-4 OLB? And, though not at the Senior Bowl, what about Bruce Carter - where does he figure to go and can he play 3-4 OLB?
People love Jordan, but the top of the 34 DE class is a bit muddled right now. He could overtake Heyward (if he hasn't already) because of the injury, but there are still UCs like JJ Watt, Muhammed Wilkerson, and Corey Liuget yet to have their say. In addition, it would be really tough for him to hop over Marcel Dareus or Adrian Clayborn.
That's what I was thinking the entire time I was watching him. It sucks. He's a pure football player. He'd buy into the system all the way and kick ass.
After reading a bunch of reports, I'm starting to really like Brooks Reed. I think it said he beat up on Nate Solder a couple of times, using both speed and spin moves. It seems like he is terrorizing linemen, and has a semi-developed set of pass-rushing moves. Plus, at 6-3 260, his size would suit him well in the hybrid.
Cam Jordan slaughtered people again yesterday, if he keeps it up ignore what I said yesterday. Dareus better watch his ass.
I have Jordan as a 15-20 pick now, is it possible he goes to the top 10 by the middle of April. EDIT: Ha, Drafttek has him 9th overall right now.
well wasn't Alualu considered a late one early 2 on the day of the draft? So his name going 10 overall was a shocker. If Jordan keeps it up won't he be a consensus mid first rounder by draft day?
Kendall Hunter is looking good in practice, too bad we have Joe McK, he would be a nice option. Vincent Brown is the best offensive player so far this week in practice. Soft hands and makes nice cuts...impressive.
There's not a lot of stud WRs in this class with the UCs going back to school, but there's one hell of a lot of guys who can be great #2s.
A bit OT, but funniest thing I heard all day came from Sirius. They're all broadcasting from Mobile, and while I love most of the analysts on the station, Bryan McGovern on Late Hits says some absolutely stupid things sometimes. When discussing the future of the Cardinals at QB and whether they'd draft a QB or sign McNabb, he said: "Neither one. This is a team that's committed to developing John Skelton. They love him, and I'll tell you what, he has the strongest arm in the NFL right now. They'll bring in a veteran to push him and help him, and I'm guessing that could be Jamarcus Russell."
I"m not touching Locker until the 4th or 5th round. He's going to go sooner than that, but I'm personally not going near him. Fuck his athleticism, I want a passer. He is not a passer.
I wish I did work for one, because I'd be standing on the table in the personnel room screaming about how much this kid can't touch the fat guaranteed money rookies are given. He's a project. He's an outright project and the pro game is going to make his eyes bleed.
