Found at another Jets' site: From ESPNNY: In the "From What It's Worth Dept." from the same Jets' site, the following, which supposedly was found at Jets Insider: The preceding can be taken with a grain of salt, since the poster didn't cite where the JI poster read the info (but then the JI poster may not have stated that, either).
After a solid pro day, Ballard's stock is going to climb. They're closer than I think a lot of people would claim at this point, and their draft stock should be pretty close together by the time of the draft. The Jets are probably looking at Ballard as someone they could drop back for, but I'm not sure how deep into the 2nd he actually goes.
I can see Ballard as a top 45 pick. Maybe he hits the top 40 come draft day. If the Jets want to drop for him, I'd have no problem. He would be a good player in this system. He's shown the ability to get push and be a force. I think rex can get him to be consistently dominant. I like Clayborn too, but he won't be around. Iowa will have a good group of players to draft from this year. We already have Greene, so if the Jets take an Iowa kid they'd have someone they know to show them the ropes.
not to ruin the fun, and I guess we DID draft Kyle Wilson, but here's the list from last year. Note we drafted Wilson ONLY. Players that visited the Jets.....Updated 4/15/10
I have no doubts that we were considering all of the above in the first round of the draft. However, everyone but Wilson was long gone. I also wouldnt have been surprised to see us grab a guy like Worilds if we hadn't been able to corral Mcknight in the 4th...
It doesnt really always apply but it can leave hints if certain players we like are there and its good value. Here's 2009's list ( Found on here): In this case it was a good hint as too who we could possibly draft. Its really a crapshoot though.

Schottenheimer was on the field watching Cobb like a hawk during the RB drills at the combine...you could see him clear as day on NFL network.
Jets | Scheduled to work out Ollie Ogbu Wed, 23 Mar 2011 13:27:16 -0700 The New York Jets are scheduled to conduct a private workout with Penn State DL Ollie Ogbu, according to Charlie Campbell, of PewterReport.com. Comment (0) | Share: | Source: PewterReport.com - Charlie Campbell -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Local from Staten Island.....Paterno called him "The Staten Island Ferry". Remember, we can look at more prospects that are local kids. IMO, not a true NT, more of a 3 tech that plays in between the Tackle and Guard.
Jets | Scheduled to work out Vidal Hazelton Wed, 23 Mar 2011 13:28:07 -0700 The New York Jets are scheduled to conduct a private workout with University of Cincinnati WR Vidal Hazelton, according to Charlie Campbell, of PewterReport.com. Another kid from Staten Island. Due Diligence with local prospects. Transfer from USC to Cincy. Blew out his knee in 1st game of the season in 2010. Could be a late round surprise, good size, hands and has KR ability. Some team in rd 6 or 7 could get a steal. MarK Sanchez could recommend Hazelton to the Jet's staff.

That's a kid that should have been a stud at the college level, but made bad decisions and had worse luck. Would love to see him as a UDFA.
Vidal is a Staten Island native, so he'd love to come home. The kid has natural ability. I don't remember Ollie, and we're around the same age. Eric Olsen is from SI, and he's with the Broncos.
I have no problem drafting him in rd 7. If we get to the point of eventually signing UDFAs he may be swayed to stay at home in NY. I know Hazelton also visited wiith the Bengals. It seems quite a few visits lately are all local kids, so I would take it with a grain of salt. Clubs can have extra visits from locals.
