Looks like you were right. We could have stood pat for the guys I labeled. The 5 names I targeted are still there... Deunta Williams, S Tyler Sash, S Deandre McDaniel, S Chris Carter, OLB Kendric Burney, CB With 1 to go before the Jets #161 (that they just traded away), all 5 are out there..... We have been waiting oin these guys since we picked in the 4th round!
First off, Kerley is a great pick. Secondly, some of you don't get it that they aren't gonna take a guy, at a need position, like safety if they don't think the guy is that good. They aren't gonna just pick a safety so some of you can overrate him. I absolutely disagree with the assumption that this is somehow a bad draft for the Jets. This is turning out to be a great draft. For not having a 2nd rounder, they ended up getting two huge hight potential D linemen, a very good rb, who some of you are underrating, he runs hard and an excellent special teams/slot receiver. This is an outstanding draft to this point.
And let's hope the league doesn't have those stupid ass final four rules again. Altho we do benefit from the 2010 rules by retaining the rights of Cro and Holmes.
I dont have a problem with the draft or the trade up for the WR. In fact, I absolutely love our first two picks and think Ellis is exactly the type of body in the middle what we were missing last year. I was just noting that when Tanny passed on those 5 guys in the 4th round for an RB, he could have grabbed the same guys we were pushing for an entire round later...
that it would be. Unfortunately for us (in terms of signing landry), it looks like when the lockout gets lifted, its going to be 2010 rules. Which is actually the best thing that could happen to us... Gotta be hoping for 2010 rules, allows us to bring back cro for cheap, we own Holmes rights (even if he wont sign his tender) and the only guy whose rights we don't really own is Braylon. If he is our only FA, he should be easy to get under contract...
