You're wrong. Bilal Powell gets Tony Richardson's old roster spot. We're going to carry five backs - LT, Greene, McKnight, Conner, and Powell.
You are correct, many thought he'd be a better CB than RB. Nick Saban was one of those people FWIW...
Not thrilled with the pick but Rex and the FO were pumped about it. Looks like he'll spell Shonn throughout the season. LT may be gone
Such horrible standing they kept him on the roster all season, gave him a full game at the end of the year and spent almost the entire post-game praising him. Yea, he is definitely getting cut so we can bring in a back who does the exact same thing as the guy we traded up in the third round to draft two years ago.
I am starting to think that McKnight might be a strict KR/PR type now with Powell as the 3rd RB and eventual 2nd RB. Who knows really though, gotta wait for Rex's reasoning.
Exactly!! LT will be a parttime player with Powell. Greene will be the feature back. McK will be our 3rd down option amd slot player.
This. I don't have a problem with the pick. Now we have 4 capable runners which is especially important considering LTs age, Greene's injury history, and McKnight's inability to be an every down back. We neeeeeeeed a FS or OLB in the 5th though. I would do horrible things for Tyler Sash, DeAndre McDaniel, or Deunta Williams.
There were articles last season about the Jets giving Mcknight time as a DB. But like said by others Powell will replace the Richardson.
Let's make it simple: Last year: LT Greene McKnight Richardson Conner This year: LT Greene McKnight Powell Conner
I'm waiting for Tanny to talk before I pass judgment. I have a good friend who is an avid Louisville fan. He says this kid flew under the radar and will be one of those unknown stars in a few years.
This guy was drafted to fill the LT slot either this year or next, depending if the Jets decide to cut LT now and use the $2.6 million to resign Cro, Holmes, Edwards. This pick is a purely economic driven pick as the Jets aren't going to pay a guy $2.6 million for 1 year when they can use that elsewhere. The bottom line is that all these draft picks mean that Ellis, Pryce, Jenkins, and now LT will not be back at a salary anywhere near what they made last year. The Jets got younger on the DL and RB and will use that money to sign the skill players they need to win now in Cro, Holmes and Edwards.
The full game was meant to rest both Greene and LT... And it would be silly to release a 4th rounder in less than a year. Not gonna take away that great game McKnight had, especially running behind some big bodies who weren't starters but the Bills Run D was absolutely horrific last season.
I want to hear what Tanny has to say in his presser.....just an odd pick, imo. I'm not knocking the pick....but i'd like to hear the reasoning behind it.
