I tend to believe a lot of teams are just flying under the radar. Or alternatively, nobody else is that eager to give a 30 year CB, even the 2nd best one in the game, $14-15M/year. I'm not sure I'm super eager for the Jets to do it either (or be anywhere near that range even). If I had to choose between either Aso, or both Cromartie/Edwards for instance (probably similar total salary demands I'd guess), I'd probably pick the latter.
"Last year 'hey, we were under the radar that's a great place to be'. FUCK THAT. The best place to be is when expectations are high"---Rex Ryan.
To answer your question, how did this happen? Two words: Mike Tannenbaum. Rex Ryan and Darrelle Revis also deserves credit if we land Aso. A) Everyone wants to play under Rex himself and B) Aso and Revis have been talking joining forces for a good 2-3 years now. I'm just glad it's not Revis going to the Raiders because lord knows Al Davis would have tried to make it happen. Woody Johnson also deserves a lot of credit for the success that Mike T has had. He's been an owner who allows his GM and head coach to run the team the right way. Jerry Jones, this isn't the 90's anymore, you need to take note; keep your ass in the press box.
Next question, where the hell can I find a white replica Holmes jersey size small. Im not paying $10 more dollars to have a custom made one because I kno they have them made in some warehouse somewhere.
Unfortunately the 2nd tier cbs are signing fast. Ala drAyton, wilson. And of course ray mcdonald and antwan barnes
lol hes alright. could be flirting with strickland 2.0 though as far as injuries go. i hope this aso standoff doesnt blow up in our face as potential nickel and dime backs continue to sign.
That's what I thought - I tried to find a link and couldn't find one. Always love it when false information is posted, even if the poster is trying to make a joke.
People think that players wanting to play for Rex has its biggest benefit of us getting guys for below market value. but the real benefit is playing out right now. of all our free agents only kc has jumped ship. Braylon, cro, even brad smith will all wait till they know there is no chance they are a jet. in this way we can pursue aso. we dont need to go after any other cbs because we know cro will still be on the table. im sure tanny said aso is or next priority let us see how much money we have left then we will talk. other teams get nervous and snatch up the other remaining dregs and our players prices go down. evil genius.
Fabian Washington? Eh. Might be an okay backup, I'm not too interested in him though. Maybe Rexy likes him though.
Braylon just became a shit ton more affordable after that Sidney Rice deal. Might even be able to get him AND Aso. Which as far as im concerned guarantees multiple Superbowl appearances With the hometown discount we seriously should be able to get Edwards for 5 years up to 30 million with 15 million guaranteed.
