    David Harris

Anyone see anything on signing Harris long term and freeing up cap space?

I can't imagine Rex allowing Bart Scott to be cut...

He better not get cut, but I read it on some Pats forum with some shady source that the Jets would cut him if they had to. I hope it doesnt happen but Bryan Thomas can go, goodbye.

I'm still not seeing where Albert Breer said that, anywhere. And considering it was on a Pats board I'm even less inclined to believe it.

I don't think so either, just though it was possible.... They might want to have him cut his money.

We need LBers so I'm not sure what the plan would be if we cut Thomas and Scott?

Hey LoyalJetsfan,,, despite having a snappy avatar ,,, why so hostile? I mean we're all Jet fans, no? Why trying to pick a fight for no reason.

Bryan Thomas has a cap hit of $3.7 million with zero cap penalty for releasing him, so I think that is very realistic. LT saves an additional $3.1 if they choose to go that route, although I would imagine LT would be willing to take a pay cut for the chance to win a super bowl. At the moment we are $7 million under the cap. Harris' cap hit will go from $10 million to $4.5 if he signs a similar deal to Bart Scott. Sanchez is at $17.7 at the moment, and would not be suprised if his cap number gets reduced from anywhere to $8-10million. So 7, plus 3.7 for BT, lets say LT is back at 1.5 mill so add 1.6 mill, plus 9 for Sanchez, and 5.5 for Harris, that puts the Jets under the cap at around $27 million. I still think year 1 Holmes cap hit will be about $7million and Aso likely $10 million, leaving us with 10 more to play with. Edwards likely out of the picture, although if they guaranteed him $20 million (which is right there with WRs in his class) over 5 years with a dummy year at the end to boost his per year average, it would not be out of the question.
