Both guys are possesion receivers. They need a fast playmaker and when I look at the free agents available, I see Santonio as the best in terms of speed and play making ability. Then again, I might be wrong and they may be going for a guy like Jonathan Joseph but why would they draft Jimmy Smith and Cut Mason/Heap, both slow offensive players. They cut Mason, which makes me believe they are looking for an upgrade and now they have the money needed to get Holmes.
The Ravens drafted Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss. They aren't going to sign Santonio Holmes. [stop posting now]
Honestly. You don't draft two wrs and sign Anquan the year before and then go out and sign the top wr in fa too. BTW Mason is coming back to Baltimore.
I guess pointless speculation is just that, pointless. But then again, this entire topic becomes pointless if this is true. Anyways, we will see what happens in a few days. Im just saying that Santonio might have more quality suitors then just the lowly skins.
I'm going to be going to bed relatively soon, any chance that when I wake up around 7 the Jets will have a deal with somebody?
Personally I am following NFL Draft Insider on twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/NFLDraftInsider). He has reported a bunch of signing so far tonight, hopefully he is not just blowing smoke.
Lol, but he almost missed a few kicks that actually mattered! He only missed one kick of major importance last year and the jets ended up beating the pats anyway. I'd probably take akers over him though.
Ravens were screwed and these cuts do count as dead money. Holmes will certainly not be a Raven. They need DBs. Even with the cuts the Ravens are still $1 million over the cap. Them along with the Packers were fucked no matter what happened with the lockout.
Dead money won't count!!!! http://www.thejetsblog.com/2011/07/25/salary-cap-update-2010-dead-money-will-not-count/
According to jetsblog they are 8 million under, not including Harris' franchise price which is expected to not be such a hit because it is expected he will sign a multi-year deal in the next week (according to same site). Oh, can people get off the ledge now? We're in fine shape.
