Uhhhhh, I'm pretty sure this is not true. I thought Whitner went to the Bengals early this morning.

Yup, and you could do that near the end of the season to decrease the risk to the jets.

That was the case until the Niners swooped in and stole him.

    "ClaytonESPN John Clayton
In five years, Donte Whitner had only five interceptions. His sixth was a doozy. The 49ers intercepted him from a two-year deal in Cincy"

Rotoworld is usually right on any breaking news and they have nothing about us signing Mason. Last news I could find anywhere said that Mason was talking to two teams plus the Jets.

If someone has a official like to the news, please post....

Manish tweeted that he thinks it will be a one year, vet minimum deal.

That would be an exemption to the cap then. More money for whatever they are hoping to pull off.

Cimini just tweeted that the Gaytriots worked out Shaun Ellis today.

If he goes there for a couple hundred thousand more, he can go fuck himself.

Hopefully that is just a ploy by his agent to get a few dollars more out of the Jets and it all works out. I'd really like to have him back for a year to mentor the young guys and be a part-time player. He can still be effective, especially if he doesn't have to handle a huge work load.

    I agree with you.

I'd like to have him back as a rotation end and mentor, but if he signs with New England, then he'll officially become a faggot in my book.

There's no reason for an aging vet to demand anything more than veteran minimum...especially from a team that's given him everything for his entire career.

If Ellis becomes a Patriot, then as far as I care that can be the uniform the retires in. No bringing his ass back for a day or any shit like that.

Out longest Jet becoming a Patriot would be a huge slap in our face, it's not like we didn't offer to bring him back....

Yeah. Once you mentioned that possibility earlier, the massive empty space made sense. I'd love to see Ellis brought back, but we could do ourselves a big favor and use the remaining space later to sign them.

One question, though. With the league wide minimum payroll in lieu of a salary floor for the next two years, does the cash need to be spent by the end of the season or the end of the league year?

We offered him almost no money after talking about how great he is. Its a business if someone makes him a respectable offer why should he turn it down?

IF Ellis becomes a Patriot, it would serve the Jets right. And it would hurt the Jets alot.

Bingo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everythings a business till someone doesn't want to sign with the Jets for some BS offer and goes to another team. Then it gets all freakin personal.
