Collins looks like a walking timebomb with the media.

Our pitching rotation and bullpen seriously needs addressing and quickly , otherwise it will be one hell of a long season.

I think the Mets could make the playoffs with Booby V.

I agree, he's already getting defensive about some of his history as a hot headed manager.

Maybe that's a good thing. The team may suck and he may suck as a manager but at least there won't be any shortcomings in the rants and throwing of Gatorade coolers.

My point is the team isn't going to sink or swim based on Collins. They're going to sink or swim based on if Daniel Murphy or someone else can come in and play a respectable second base, and if Beltran stays healthy and is productive, and if Jason Bay bounces back, and the bullpen holds up. That's what's important.

As long as Collins isn't the kind of guy who will give 400 plus at bats to a Jeff Francoeur or the kind of guy who would use Feliciano as often against righties as he does against lefties, I think we'll be ok.

They need to gut this team of the losers, injury plagued chokers and mediocrity its been plagued with
Unfortunately that won't happen till next
    Year.

    Dump Reyes, Beltran, Perez, Maine,Castillo.

Keep wright, pagan, bay, Ike Davis and most of the pitching staff.

Bay should have a rebound season

I'm surprised at the amount of leeway Wright is given.

Yeah, Reyes had a slight downyear by his standards but he'd just missed a year of baseball due to leg injuries.

What's Wright's excuse for his increased strikeouts and decrease in "clutchness" and producing anywhere from the 7th inning on? Citi field? Is he afraid of inside pitches after his beaning last year?

Mets closing in on a deal that would bring FA pitcher Chris Young to queens. Good move If he comes cheap.

Wright has been healthy and always puts up numbers. His clutches can be questioned but he's a legit building block.

Reyes always seems to have injury issues since he was a rookie. You can't depend on him as a key cog to the team. he's part of the losing culture we've had here.

You can say wright is too but he manages to stay on the field and still produce despite garbage production aroud him.

Reyes is still a top five shortstop and you can't get rid of him. I think he's an easy "losing culture" target because he's Latino and has tattoos and dreads. The same people who want him gone don't seem to realize how irreplaceable he is. I think he gets on track with the injuries this year.

I would say that if the Mets should consider trading anyone, it's Pelfrey. Right now his win and loss totals are more impressive than his actual upside, and it might be enough to snare some stupid team into giving up a boatload for him. He's a steady number 3, but maybe someone sees him as more.

It really depends on what you can get for Reyes. There's 4 teams that could potentially be looking for a SS upgrade, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, San Diego and to a lesser extent San Fran. If you could get a package from Baltimore, say maybe a pitcher like Jake Arrietta or Zach Britton, plus Caleb Joseph a really great catching prospect blocked by Wieters and a David Hernandez to improve the bullpen immediately, and then make a deal for a guy like Jason Bartlett with Tampa Bay I think you have to think about it.

We need to get Castillo off the books in one way or another, try and pick up an arm for the back end of the rotation? I think Murphy could be a decent second baseman.

Alderson seems to talk sense so we can only hope, roll on 2012 when we get all of these fucking shit contracts off the roster!

Like the paulino acquisition, was a decent catcher and offers some batting upside. Looks like its just me in here now!!!!

Rumours are Red Sox are discussing Beltran internally if we can split the salary and pick up an arm and prospects do it!!

I feel your pain brother, the truth of the matter is we got a new gm who says we are not going to make any big acquisitions this off-season how can you be excited. We are absolutely terrible and will finish at the bottom of the division with even Washington ahead of us.

Also like the deal to sign the reliever Carrasco , look these aren't exciting signings but our problem has been depth.

We now have decent left/right platoon at catcher, clearly we lack starting pitching but if we resign Dickey and get a fit Chris Young then it isn't that bad.

Currently our opening day starting roster would be

    Davis
    Murphy/Castillo
    Reyes
    Wright
    Bay
    Beltran
    Pagan
    Thole

    Pelfrey

That is good enough to win above 50% of games imo. Add some situational depth and we should compete. Are we going to be world beaters...possibly not but this is an interim season where rebuilding the franchise is crucial in preperation for getting rid of the obscene contracts we have.

Would you trade Beltran for Dice-K? That seems to be a deal being discussed on mlbtr.com. I think I'd give Dice-K the chance to face National League hitters.
