This is year is already sold as a fail year. Wait till 12' when all the bad contracts are gone. If we're lucky, the Mets will be relevant this year till August.

Dear Mets Fans - who is worse? Yankee or Steeler fans?

I always thought the former, but I'm starting to lean the other way.

I like what they've done this off season, and I think they're being wholly underestimated. Capuano, Bucholz, Tankersley, and Young all have the potential to be light years better than the many starts we got from Maine/Perez last season and we have upgraded catcher and bench as well.

Last year the Mets gave over 1600 PA to guys with sub .300 on base percentages. That won't happen again.

As a Yankee fan, I must say I am impressed by the Hairston and Capuano signings. Really wished the Yanks signed these guys.

Hairston is a decent back up OF on a minor league deal.

lderson actually seems to know what hes doing ...with some money to spend in 2012 he could actually build a good roster

Finally a good signing. Now we just need a 5th starter.

At least we seem to have a GM who understands how to build a roster. With $2 and change he has done a good job.

I understand that they have no money but he did not even appear to try to improve the roster with trades. It's like he only thinks there is the Rule 5 draft and ultra cheap FA. Ok so the guys he got have a chance to help but it looks like the MEts FO have already conceeded 2011.

NO reason to spend all sorts of money when they have no prayer of sniffing the playoffs. There wasn't alot of FA worth the money this year, certainly none that would elevate them from non-contender to playoff hopefulls.

It's a sound strategy. Build from within, and when the pieces are in FA, you've got the money to get them because you didn't blow it just cause you had it.
