Francesca is a poor man's Larry Merchant. An old senile fool who's respect only comes from the fact that he's been around forever.Bottom line is, unless the guy does something distasteful or atrocious, you don't berate your guest... especially when you're in the wrong. Marshall fell into Revis. If anything, the contact kept Marshall up because it looked like he was going to fall down.

While I do agree with you that it was funny that Francesser was hung up on, it still makes Francesser look like the victim. Revis and the PR guy received some abuse from the media. At around 4:50 yesterday a caller told Francesser that he always hangs up on callers. The caller was essentially telling Francesser he got a taste of his own medicine. Francesser responded with something like, "You can't compaih a call to a intaview. It's completely diffrint."

Mike Francesa learns he's not the only one with a quick trigger finger as Darrelle Revis hangs up on the Sports Pope during Friday afternoon's debate. The click at the other end of Darrelle Revis' telephone inspired Mike Francesa to ask the following question: "What is he hanging up for?" This is the same question callers have asked themselves for years after Francesa abruptly ends a conversation by hanging up on them. His stunned reaction upon being dumped Friday by Revis, and Jets PR man Jared Winley, confirms the Pope ain’t the only one with a quick trigger finger. Winley made the only mistake here. And that mistake wasn’t his decision to tell Revis to end the conversation, it was Winley, perhaps under orders, issuing a public apology to Francesa. If anything, Winley and Revis should be saluted for making Francesa swallow the same medicine he force feeds WFAN callers daily. If Revis was one of the unwashed masses, not an All-Pro cornerback, Francesa would not have put up with him for 11 seconds, let alone the 11 minutes, 6 seconds the interview lasted. From the get-go it was easy figuring where this was headed. Francesa congratulated Revis on his "big award. "Player of the week or whatever you won, congratulations, Francesa said. "Although you did mug him (Miami’s Brandon Marshall) on that play when you got that pick for a touchdown. . . Francesa meant to say: "Congratulations on your award, but you cheated to get it. Revis laughed and kiddingly said: "That’s what everybody thinks, yeah. See, Francesa thought Revis should have been hit with a penalty, so it had to be. The Pope is always right. That’s what this interview, as usual, was all about. But on this occasion Francesa was going to prove his point directly to Revis. The Pope was going to teach Revis a lesson. Did he really expect Revis to kiss his ring and say, "Mike you’re right. It wasn’t until you said I interfered that I realized my infraction? The most telling part of the interview came after Revis bailed. In the space of just over a minute, Francesa said: "Yes, that was a penalty. "I’m not going to let anyone tell me what is and what isn’t a penalty. "The idea that’s not a penalty is ridiculous. "I can’t call it a penalty all week and then get on with Revis and not call it a penalty. That was a penalty. "I’ve been watching football for a long time and I know if it’s a penalty or not and that’s a penalty. "I don’t care if he’s a great corner. . . . Just because he’s Revis and he says it’s not a penalty (then) it’s not a penalty. It is a penalty. After Revis’ initial light-hearted reaction to Francesa’s contention, the chat moved in another direction until the Pope slipped in another reference to the play in question. That’s what happens when the Jets (a team Francesa rips daily) biggest star gets into it with the Pope, the city’s preeminent sportstalk Gasbag. Yet, the way things transpired wasn’t all that different from His Holiness taking on an average FAN caller. Nothing matters except Francesa being right. And it didn’t matter if Darrelle Revis or Benny from the Bronx was on the other end of the telephone. TAKE THAT YOUR HOLINESS Francesa got a huge shot of pub with the Revis interview, but is his WFAN power base eroding? A question worth asking in the wake of jive going down after ESPN tried billing its story on Dwight Gooden (in 1986 Doc was getting high in a Long Island housing project while watching the Mets World Series parade) as an "exclusive when Gooden had already told his tale last May to Norman Julius Esiason and Craig Cartoon on their FAN morning show. In order to make that point, the FANdroids mass emailed a press release including an audio clip of the morning mouths slamming ESPN and Francesa. "Mike, who knows better, (he) says to (Jon) Heyman, ‘ESPN broke the (Gooden) story,’ Cartoon said on the audio clip. "It (Gooden telling his tale) happened here (on the morning show) in May and you (Francesa) know it happened here in May. So there’s no reason to say that unless you have agenda against me and Boomer. There was a time when the FANdroids wouldn’t allow any of the hired schleppers to breath the same air as Francesa let alone cast aspersions on the Pope. Now FAN brass is gladly sending audio to media outlets all over town where one member of the "family - Cartoon - is heard verbally smacking Francesa around. So yeah, maybe all the real juice at WFAN is being squeezed from 6 a.m.-10 a.m.
Bob Raissman and Francesa have been going at it for years. Raissman has Zero cred on the topic. Unfortunately Francesa benifited greatly from this and Revis and the Jets PR guy came off a little thin skinned. Mike makes his living on being a bully, nothing changed other than he got a ton of publicity.
Yeah, Bob Raissman's awful. He kills every media person, never giving any props if there's a good interview or something similar. I agree, he has zero cred.
The PR guy shouldn't have apologized, but point well taken that Fatty can play the victim card for how things went down.

mike acted like a jackass (as usual) and this time he got hoisted on his own petard which he definately deserved. he disrespected and berated a guest on his program and the guest basically told him to shove it. Good for Revis !!! I think between this and the norv turner comments we may see a very angry team come out and smash the chargers right in the mouth.
