It's been done many times. Now they're saying Drew to be DLed and Sutton will be added. Anyway, tonight's game finally started at about 9:30 and it's still going. I've sat through the whole thing. Reminiscent of the Sunday night Tampa Bay game, except that each team has a whole run in this one, and the starting pitching was not nearly as dominant tonight as it was then. Headed to the 14th now, tied at 1. Reddick made another great catch in this one. One of the highlights was Scutaro missing a sign with a runner on third and one out in extra innings, leading to a rundown. Scutaro then got a hit and got thrown out trying to stretch it to a double, ending the inning. top of 14th: double, single, runner held at third, bunt with the ball sailing over Gonzalez's head, run scores.
Roger that. The fantasy squad needed a win via him tonight, oh well. Normally I still root against him even when I start him but it's crunch time now and I need points. I've been monitoring his season very closely. He has been outstanding, but has gotten little run support. They'll go out and drop 15 on Cleveland tomorrow.
NESN just showed a graphic where every other current starter has gotten over 6 runs per game of support and he's gotten 3.60. The team is still 15-6 in his starts. He's been awesome this year.
This is hilarious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wys_JmrK5e4&feature=related
Another late.game thrilling victory for the Sox! I'm thinking that these late.game heroic are building a great team bond. You can tell these guys play for each other and never give up on one another.
From the Boston Globe website: Clay Buchholz is at the fourth step of a five-step rehab program on his back. He hopes to get cleared to start playing catch again during the next homestand. Buchholz is optimistic about playing again this season. But the calendar is against him at this point. He has not pitched in a game since June 16 and his last bullpen session was about a month ago. It would be uncharacteristic of the Red Sox to rush him back, so the best Buchholz maybe can hope for is is building up enough arm strength to be a reliever close to the end of September. Even that may be a long shot. We need this guy back. With he and Bedard rounding out the top 4, we should have a solid rotation come playoff time.
What options are there? right now there's Lester, Beckett, Wakefield, Lackey, and Bedard You could throw in Aceves and Andrew Miller if you'd like, but do you want them starting playoff games?
In an ideal world, Lester, Beckett, Buchholz and Lackey suit me just fine. If you're asking me who's the fourth if Buchholz doesn't come back - which seems the likely scenario; and if my choice is between Miller, Bedard or Wake, I choose Wake every day of the week.
