Not for nothing, but these my be my favorite two drafts. The Chiefs come close, and the Jets getting Iupati makes up for the merely solid pick in Gerhart (only because it's Round 2).
I am glad you liked those two picks anyway. I had other players targeted but Williams was just too good of a player to pass up at pick # 25. Value trumps need every time. The Ravens line was stout this year but the salary cap could be a problem for them in a couple years. They may not be able to keep all of their good young talent when those rookie contracts expire. Injuries in the NFL are all to common as well.
Jetfanmack's online, but hasn't been active in like 20 minutes. His time runs up in like 10... I'm up after him and I don't mind waiting a bit, but hopefully he realizes soon.
The place I got Asamoah's name from spelled it Asomoah, so when I hit ctrl-f "Aso" into the selections, nobody came up. Fixed. Sorry about the delay guys. I never got a PM that I was on the clock, and I didn't get home until about an hour ago anyway.
Giants and Browns drafts are now complete. Come, bask in my unbelievable and intense glory. CLEVELAND BROWNS Rd 1) Joe Haden, CB, Florida Rd 2) Chad Jones, S, LSU Rd 3) Eric Norwood, OLB, South Carolina Rd 3) Ciron Black, OT, LSU Reasoning is simple on most, a mix of BPA and areas where a significant amount of talent was needed. Joe Haden is one of the best players in the draft, and gives the Browns are future #1 corner to match with a pretty good one in Eric Wright. There was simply no other choice for me, Haden is a lock to be a star in this league. Chad Jones gives them a playmaker at the safety spot next to the solid Abram Elam. Eric Norwood is just great value and the type of player and leader defenses can be built around, plus I think Kamerion Wimbley's just about worn out his welcome. Lastly, Ciron Black fills a huge need at RT replacing John St. Clair. NEW YORK GIANTS Rd 1) Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland Rd 2) Daryl Washington, LB, TCU Rd 3) Larry Asante, S, Nebraska With the Giants I took a bit of a different path, knowing pretty much what I wanted out of the three picks. I took Campbell because I feel pretty strongly their OL needs some kind of overhaul. Diehl has limitations as a tackle when the run game isn't dominant, and that showed many times this season. Taking Campbell allows them to toy with some different configurations this year, before eventually having him take over the LT spot. Diehl can move inside to guard, his natural spot, or take over for the very nearly done Kareem McKenzie. I wouldn't be surprised to see them start developing a young center either. I wanted Daryl Washington from the moment Rolando McClain went off the board in the first, he's exactly the type of LB that can start from day one with real success. Will it be at MLB right away, it depends on the staff's loyalty to Antonio Pierce, but he'll be starting somewhere in 2010. And for Larry Asante, he's a big strong safety that shouldn't have been there in the 3rd, and should mesh nicely with Kenny Phillips out centerfield.
1. NT Dan Williams - Tennessee 2. RB Jahvid Best - California 3. OL Rodger Saffold - Indiana I'm happy with my draft. Got a big play runningback to go with the big play receivers in Jahvid Best. Thought briefly about him in round one but passed over him for the NT in Dan Williams. Can never have enough of those in the 3-4. And then I get a solid OL in the 3rd. I'll be honest, I know very little of the offensive linemen in this draft right now at this stage. The Chargers are a very good team right now. I'm looking to add pieces who can help right away. Maybe I would have taken a defensive back in round three had I had more time, but I got PM'd and IM'd being told I was going to be skipped in 10 minutes, so I only looked up linemen.
Saints Draft: NEW ORLEANS SAINTS, PinPointPenning10 Rd 1) Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Mizzou Rd 2) Arthur Jones, DT, Syracuse Rd 3) Reshad Jones, S, Georgia
Colts Draft: Rd 1) Perrish Cox, CB, OK ST Rd 2) Tyson Alualu, DT, Cal Rd 3) Pat Angerer, ILB, Iowa Not too shabby.
Defense, Defense, Defense...great job Jam!!! Angerer was going to make my top 10 not drafted list...had to cross him off. nice job. Looking forward to having you back for the 7 rd mock....excellent job.
Thanks for the high praise man, i really appreciate it. i think that colts fans would love it if draft day ended up like that. Thanks for all your hard work putting together this Mock Draft, I really had a good time
Really nice Browns draft...Haden and Wright would make a nice CB combo and Norwood/Wimbley can make an excellent OLB duo. Wimbley just had his best year since his rookie year. Don't like the Asante pick for the Giants, but the idea of a S was good. Jam, nice picks for the Colts.
