Kurt, I like the players, I just don't like the direction that takes the Jets in. Don't quit mocks... The value is more than fine, I just don't like the positions you chose. You know more about the draft than I do. I look at WW85 and Scott Wright's lists, along with a little other research, and there you have my picks!
I (and many others) loved the Iupati pick... we just didn't agree with the second one! Hey I even had a Lions fan come to this board to tell me he didn't like my Benn pick Of course being the Jets fan you were under a lot of scrutiny... don't take it too hard on yourself
Kurt, this draft wouldn't work if people didn't make their own decisions. The pick is in: Toby Gerhart is your choice. Keep standing your ground.
Yeah Kurt, it's hard to be the Jets GM on a Jets board, don't let other people's opinion make you quit the mocks. We aren't trying to hint with you to leave, it's just some disagreements that happen in every football discussion, people have different opinions. I too like the players you drafted, I just don't agree with Gerhart.
Please..please don't think I'm fishing for compliments or attention. Forget I even said what i said. I just pulled a "Rex" b/c im frustrated that more people didn't like my picks. But i need to accept that not everyone has the same draft philosophy as myself. I'd appreciate it if anything else said about my draft is about the selections themselves and not me as a poster. I didn't mean to stir up drama.
To be honest with you, my highest rated player when the Jets were OTC wasn't Iupati. He was second, behind one of the best running backs I've ever watched in person. I'm dead serious here: I would've taken Ryan Mathews in the first round for the Jets, and it has nothing to do with the fact that he played at Fresno State. He was my top rated player at #29 and the Jets may not bring back Thomas Jones. I strongly believe Mathews will be a dominant back in a backfield with shared carries. I'm really big on keeping our offensive system intact. If we lose a powerful runner like Jones, we have to fill that hole with another one for things to continue to run smoothly. So, taking Gerhart really didn't bother me all that much.
Surreeee it doesn't . I was happy with the Iupati pick, but I have to admit I wouldn't have been upset about getting Matthews as well, the only problem I would have in that pick would be having 3 RBs with injury concerns, but that would be a ridiculously talented backfield in Washington, Greene, and Matthews.
That's always a problem, but having a three-headed monster at running back on your roster can be huge in different situations. All three guys have different running styles and abilities. If you use them all the right way, they should stay fresh and healthy. No one would wear down.
I'm making an executive decision......I'm picking for the Vikings right now....NDMick has missed 2 picks and is into 2+ hours on the current pick. I'm tired of waiting for no reason!!
DAMN WW, you took the exact guy I wanted and have been refreshing this page every 10 seconds to hope was still available. Great pick.
Sorry I stole your thunder. Hardy wasn't the player I was suggesting for the Jets in rd 2. Hardy is more of 4-3 end. There is another outstanding player that fills a NY Jet's need.
Ravens and Chargers picks could be the steals of the draft. Odrick and Jahvid Best in the late second? Really? I said the same thing about David Ghee, because even though there was a more pressing need that had decent value, corner is still a need for the Packers and Ghee at 2.23 was too good to pass up.
They are saying he kind of struggled at the Senior bowl practices if I got who you mean... PS Looking at this mock if the Jets decide to go DB and Iupati and Wilson are both taken before 29 we should def trade down and still pick up a lot of talent. There are so many good CBs this year it's not even fair...
Oh, I thought you meant one of the best guys left overall, not only for the Jets. I wanted him for the Saints cause they're a 4-3. I think his pass-rushing skills make him a steal this late, but he could definitely fall in the draft. It's okay though, because I'm very happy with Jones as a 1b option. Saints have a big need at DT, and he's a guy that could've been a top-15 pick before his injury.
Yeah, I agree. Especially not having much of the focus on him, with their two big DTs and Jared Allen.
