nobody on the jets proclaimed that they were the best team in the NFL. comparing your team to the miami heat is not saying you are the best team. the miami heat haven't won anything.

I am not sure when it was decided that teams aren't supposed to believe in themselves and that players are not allowed to believe that they can win it all. How is that smack? Its just being confident in your team. Its kind of amazing that some of these pats and fin fans don't even know what smack talk is.
Alright, I can see that... "smack" would be a more derogatory comment aimed directly at another team or player. Rex and the boys haven't really said anything about anyone else, except Channing Crowder (but that shouldn't count)... just themselves. Fair enough. But I'd call it semantics. If you don't think that the chest-thumping that's gone on over the past six months has put the Jets on everyone's hit list and put enormous expectations on the players, I'm not sure what to tell you. It goes waaaaayyy beyond "having confidence in your team," like you said. The examples are certainly out there. When the playoffs started, he said the Jets should be the favorites to win it all. This was despite being a wild-card team and having 14-2 team in your conference, plus a 13-3 team in the NFC. Last year he said the team will get to meet Obama sometime in the next couple of years, implying that they'll be visiting the White House as Super Bowl champs. This summer, he signs the ESPN bus with, "Soon to be champs." I don't know how else those things can be interpreted. Is it "smack talk?" Not exactly. But it's pretty unconventional, and throws the idea of humility out the window. While on one hand I admire Ryan for it, on the other I think those things are good things to be said... in a locker room, with only the team and coaches present.
Fair enough, the only thing I really had an issue with was one you didn't post. It was when he said they would have beaten the Colts had they not pulled the starters. It's not impossible they do but it seemed far fetched. That to me was disrespectful to a great team. It's not as over the top as Fatcessa made it out to be but it wasn't exactly a smart thing to say. I don't have an issue with the bravado if you produce, it just gives the media a chance to hammer you if you don't. For the most part everything he said while not PC is really only putting the targets on their back, he's not calling anybody out per se but Revis calling Moss a slouch could certainly be considered trash talk.
I thought he was pretty much dead on with his points today. It's the way he delivers them that drives me nuts.

Hes fat, ugly, but paid bcuz we listen to his hatred for the Jets. This guy makes some of the weakest statements and gets away with it. Sometimes i feel his family calls in and lets him slide by with his opinions. Which team in mlb, nba, and NFL do not have a goal of winning the championship? NONE! The Jets just happen to state their goal of winning and wanting to be the best and believing openly so Francessna hates us.
Why does he spend 10 minutes bashing a caller for false information? If he's wrong, he's wrong. No one knows the caller, nor cares what he said. That was odd, but typical.
Saying that you think your team is good enough to win it all and that your goal is to win a title is not talking smack or trash talking. In fact if anything Ryan is complimentary of opposing coaches and players - he's not trashing anybody. Its kind of weird that some people are unable to discern the difference between believing in your team and trashing somebody else or talking smack. Its really a BIG difference, its not simply a semantics discussion. Its apples and oranges.
can someone post the link to that youtube video of a caller dissing Fatcessa on air. He then proceeds with "That's not going on the air anyway but thanks for trying." Little did he know, it was on youtube.

Spot on. The Falcons game when we missed 3 FG's which was the difference in the game yet he said they're part of the game. The Dolphins game we gave up 2 kickoff TD's and 1 fumble TD and he laughed at jet fans making excuses saying it's part of the game Then in week 16 vs the colts his excuse as to why the Jets were even in the game at 15-10 before manning left was because they returned a kick for a TD. he mocked the jets FG unit defense for all the playoff misses yet doesn't hold the same for the falcon game. he pretty much contradicts himself on every point in order to fit his argument. I haven't listened the last 2 days. I happened to turn it on 20 minutes ago and Ira from SI is on. Francesa says Jets have major issues to fix. the LG can't play. Belichick will exploit him. Jets haven't seen this Pats offense before. They're sharper then they ever were last season(this will prevent jets fans from saying we shut them down week 2). chargers were laughing at anyone that thought cromartie can cover. he says cromartie can't cover anyone. greene is a mess.so pretty much it's OVER and done with guys. good season. it's funny because we heard monday before the game how he told everyone to take week 1 and don't overreact. everyone who's 0-1 feels like they'll never win and 1-0 feels like they're printing SB tickets. yet his view point on the jets is the complete opposite. spiraling out of control like someone posted? huh? I agree it could get to that point if they don't win this week but calm down fatty. and I've had enough of the people who flock to this thread and ask why anyone cares what he thinks. it only happens once every page in this thread. it's funny listening to his excuses. he even tries to make excuses as to why the jets only allowed 10 pts and they're D isn't good. I haven't listened to his show since monday because the anti jet viewpoints are impossible to listen to. he's losing listeners.
