You are certainly right that any boxer would lose in an MMA fight but I think it is automatic that an MMA fighter would lose a boxing match to a boxer. They may have backrounds in boxing but none of them have the form to win a boxing match. It's a no brainer that as all around fighters guys in MMA destroy boxers.
MMA is the ultimate bro sport. I understand that these guys can knock the shit out of 99.9 percent of the population. I just don't care.
lol he said the exact same thing on his Sunday show before the Pats game. I can't believe he was reduced to debating MMA, this is just getting too fun
I Cant believe the smugness of this douchebag. Is he actually stating that he could have been a GM ? LMFAO
Part of what you said is what I was trying to say. Just give Mike Tyson a ridiculous Affliction t-shirt, then send him into a caged ring and tell him he can not only use his knees on his opponent's head, but he can also put his opponent in a headlock and try to make him tap out. Conversely, send an MMA fighter into a boxing ring and tell him he can't strike with his lower body, grapple with the opponent for more than 3 seconds, nor pounce on the opponent while the opponent is down. Who do you think fares better in the other's ring? The MMA fighter most likely wins in his own ring, but I think it's competitive; the boxer in his own ring wrecks the MMA fighter because MMA-guy can only use 1/3 of the Offense he normally uses. You're giving a boxer extra weapons when putting him in an MMA fight, and you're uhnawmously removing an MMA fighter's weapons when putting him in a boxing ring.
Tyson loves MMA, He's been to almost every UFC in the last 5 years. He's a guy who could of made that transition easily IMO.
Not fair. Even Against an MMA fighter....In His prime Tyson would knock the guy out on his way to get inside. Prior to Don King getting his claws into Mike there had never been a combination of Speed,Accuracy and Power in the ring ever. And Before someone says Joe Louis, bullshit...that's 50 year old sportswriters refusing to acknowledge the supremacy of the modern over their past.
I don't think the boxer would be competitive at all unless you are giving the boxer at least a year of hardcore training in all the different martial arts employed in MMA. Even a mediocre MMA fighter would completely wreck a boxer on the ground.
