That Giants story is bigger than this thread. Once a player becomes a free agent, they start lobbying to become a Jet.
He will be on his hands and knees praying that da Steeliz bail him out. Last year he basically got no one in Miami, and that's with a pretty neutral(to him) Colts-Saints game.
That's not how it works. They bid against each other. There's no need to do a silent auction or something. One coach says I'll take it from the 25. The other coach can then decide if he wants it from the 24 or not. The comments from the 2003 article are gone, but I was one of the posters debating ideas in there. There were various good ones, all better than the NFL overtime system. This idea is solid. It brings strategy into it and it's not complicated. The whole thing would go quickly.
I don't know...the overnight generally sucks these days, and that sucks for me because that's when I usually get to listen the most to sports radio. Tony Paige is awful, I don't think that guy comes up with one original thought a week. And he lets the callers go on and on, no matter how ridiculous they or their point is. Adam the Bull is better than all of them, he's very down the middle and doesn't tolerate fools like Tony Paige does. I miss Benigno, he was perfect for the overnight. 1050 used to have Gordon Damer but now they have a national overnight show.
nobody wants to be on his show b/c he acts like a horse's ass and he's not a former player and his ego is waaaay out of proportion. for him to sit there bad mouthing the jets for months and months and have them shove it right down his fat throat each sunday is a thing of pure beauty. he needs to call up the jets, make amends and get jets personnel on his program. but the problem is that he is such a bitter person at this point that nobody wants to have anything to do with him. when he had the dog - he used to be a good broadcaster who had a fun show that was occasionally interesting to listen to and it was much more light hearted and funny. he used to have alot of good guests. now who the hell would want to do that show w/the way he treats people and his listeners??? he is like the angry old guy on the block whose grown up kids don't like him and don't come to visit him anymore so he sits on the porch screaming at people and calling the cops to complain that other people are having fun - meanwhile the world is passing him by.
^^LOLing at the Giant players wanting to play for Rex. Will Fatty bring this up on his own? No way. When callers mention it, he'll downplay it "dat's just playas tawkin, ya can't take anyting from dat. Taam's a human being and a good coach. He's classy." back afta dis.
Chubby said " Dis woud not werk becazz anyone woud elect to take de ball regardless of where" Caller: "Mike so you are saying you would take the ball on the 1 every time?" Chubby: " Absoludely..everytime..not a queztion bout it..everytime. Ged oud of heere with your clown circus ideas for OT...wad are we doin here playing foodball or board games? Bak after dis"
Caller: Mike, I think that Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips comments about their desire to lay for Rex, is really a testament to the kind of coach he is. Mike: Whuddaya tawkin about? Caller: Rolle and Phillips were interviews by Sid Rosenberg, and they said that they would both love to play for Rex Mike: WAITASEKENT! Where did dis intaview air? Caller: In Miami, where Sid has a show. Mike: OK, Miami...why do I cah wat happened in Miami? Caller: Um...maybe because it involves players from the NY Giants? Mike: Oh, so now ahm suppose ta cah what all dese playas say and do everywhere dey go? Caller: Well... Mike: ANSUR DA KESCHEN!!! ANSUR DA KESCHEN!!! Caller: The players do play for a NY team Mike: Ahm worried ahbout tings dat happen in New Yawk! Fawr example, when dat public noosince Braylen Edwidz gawt cawt fawr DUI, where did it happen? ANSUR DA KESCHEN!!! nevahmind I'll tell ya!! NEW YAWK! Dat's when I tawk about it. Caller: Mike, you're a fat slob Mike: Aaah git lawst.
haha he brought up the Giants talk right away.. trying to belittle the players now and say they underperformed. So I guess that makes the quotes meaningless.
